313. If you might die from it, you probably will.
314. Trolls, while seldom found, are very dangerous, especially if you are a kobold or other brittle race.

266. Don't EVER try to teach yourself to swim with no prior skill.
Especially in 7/7 water.
You'll drown.

Taught myself from Not Swimmer to Legendary in a Murky Pool. Whenever I started to drown, I quickly went back to the surface, up until Novice/Adequate. Then at that point, I managed to wait, in the water, for three days, gaining swimming skill, without freezing. To this day, I have no idea how that is possible, but you CAN teach yourself to swim with no prior skill, it's just tricky.  ::)

(I did this on current 2012 version of Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode, so it isn't a previous version bug.)

Yeah, I've taught a couple adventurers now from no skill up to novice or so, so they can cross rivers without sputtering and flailing.  Quite possible.

I still tend to plunk 5 points down on getting novice swimmer at character creation, because it really is just greatly tedious...

288. Swimming in frozen environments, and at night-time in temperate environments, is suicide.

289. If you ever get pulled out of fast travel and feel uneasy, it's a good time to start sneaking. Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean the crossbowman can't see you.

It had to be done. Those missing two were getting on my nerves a bit.

They're not on the same team? And bogeymen vanish upon death so you couldn't have thrown them...
