[Dwarven WMD]

Lately I've been into creepypastas. I don't know why, because I'm a pussy a large majority of the time. I was looking over one of my newest worlds after reading one thing, and was looking over a sinister biome, when I remembered that biomes can rain blood. This somehow lead to me wondering; what if someone wrote a creepypasta of Dwarf Fortress?

The thing is, I'm not quite sure how someone would even manage this. Sure there's a myriad of horrific things on Dwarf Fortress, things that in truth we'd likely shit ourselves if confronted with in real life, but the question would be how you could write a good, scary story based on DF that would make someone paranoid or something.

I'm curious as to if anyone could think of ways this would be possible.

It's difficult, because the most horrifying thing in the world is the dwarf hive mind entity itself, as directed by a typical player.

You could do some metaphysical thing where the world actually is inside dwarf fortress, and has just come out of worldgen. Meaning that an extrauniversal entity is now telling everyone what to do. Which is not very nice considering the average player.

Throw in something similar to mermaid harvesting if you want to creep people out.

Or a nice reference to the Child care thread. Or maybe a story about Boatmurdered. Try to get the point that human beings seriously decide to go play this game, and then have these ideas, And are regular people (sorta). Or, that there isnt a simulation, and everything we play actually happens, or something.

The best creepypastas should be somewhat believable, but totally unusual. Dwarf fortress has its share of horrors and excursions into uncanny valley. I'm leaning towards something creepy about an oddly behaving dwarf, with semi-plausible events and a terrifying conclusion.

Like that rumor a few years back about Toady and Threetoe having a third brother that was mysteriously electrocuted while testing a new version of DF? Apparently it was never released due to unforeseen bugs involving a memory error where a single dwarf managed to persist across several newly generated game worlds and even new versions. This particular dwarf caused the downfall of any fort he happened to migrate to, usually because of some kind of tantrum spiral bug resulting from the dwarf 'projecting' a particular terrifying event from his past upon his fellow dwarves.

There was one such in the local news, actually.  Something about a cat lady storing a bunch of dead cats in her freezer....

 Someone made a short story some time ago about a mushroom-man being distilled alive. I'd say that counts.

There is a story somewhere of an adventurer going deep into an abandoned fort and finding an opening to a circus, but it was actually a Cyclopian circus which made his mind melt, not very creepy but worth the read.
