An event leading up to the Male Mage release on the 27th. Get 40 of them and turn in the quest to the dark elf with the green scroll above their head

My Katana is starting to show its age, and unfortunately my Heaven's Gate luck has run out. I've got a level 50 Katana waiting in the wings, but no luck for a 30-35. Everything is so expensive once you hit 35. Hopefully I can sell off this 45 Handcannon for the 5 mil its worth and use that to upgrade.

I think a Berserker might suit my playstyle better. So maybe I'll bring out that spare slayer I have laying around. And try one out.

Turnin' in for the night, huum. Got th'witch to 23 before blitz gave out, and the slayer and priest are at 14 and 10 respectively. Not sure what going to do with the slayer... thinking that soul thingy, but there's a certain style to the concept of blademaster -- I'm pretty fond of the whole supremacy-through-skill-instead-of-supernatural theme. Priest is going avenger simply because :P

Looking forward to a party run if we can ever manage to run even on levels, heh. Witch is interesting without meatshields, huhuhu. Little goblin dude don't cut it, though it does help.

Witch is all about avoiding, flying around on your broomstick, controlling enemies, and smacking things with a giant flyswatter.

I actually really liked the one I played for PvP, because the amount of annoyance points you can rack up before an enemy gets their stun lock off on you is amazing.

Yeah. Currently only Korea, China, Japan, The United States, Canada, And Oceania get access. There are methods to sneak in if you really want to, some of them are reported to even work quite well, not that I'm particularly informed on the subject.

Well, I've almost finished the Grand Flores area. Just need to do Blazing Grakqarak a couple more times, and then Shadow Thunderland.

Also that quest where you have to finish Thunderland with a party.

You can skip that'un if you feel like, heh. M'witch certainly did, but I've been pretty spotty as far as quests go. Running through the early stuff on master/king outpaces the quests pretty fast if you're not grabbing like every one of that area's quests in one go (which my slayer and priest have been trying to do, but eh.), and if you are you outpace the XP/difficulty even faster :P

Sorry about ditching like I did, though. Back on for a bit, but no clue how long. Wrecking my priest through some Flores stuff, yeah, but at this pace it won't take too terribly long :-\

You mean people do PvP with characters other than gunners? There's nothing like getting locked on the ground because they can shoot down at you while you throw punches way above their head because they're so frigging lanky.

Maybe monks/I just suck at PvP, but I've never once won a match.

Yeah, PvP is surprisingly hard, especially if you don't have a good connection (like me), and gunners are very good at it. Monks are also very good at it, but they have the notable disadvantage on gunners of not having a ranged attack. All you can do is remember you can move up and down too (surprisingly easy to forget in the heat of battle), and walk around their bullets, and use dash (It has tons of invincibility frames) to get in close to them. Sway is also of use to get out of a sticky situation. Sometimes it'll make you invincible log enough for their combo/skill to time out and leave them open for a second.

Of note is the fact that monks main bonus in PvP is that it's very easy to get a huge chain going that will just end them entirely if you can get your hands on them. This'll take some experimenting with skills (if you're a lower level monk, 20-25 you prolly don't have enough skills to pull it off quite yet, I'd wait until you get access to sway and machinegun jab at least), but you can definitely stunlock dudes, if you can get close enough for it.

PvP is also like PvP in every other game in that people that are much better at it then any normal human can be expected to be are constantly roving around and kicking teeth in.

Are proper skill builds important or can you just kind of put points wherever you want?

They sorta' might be in higher level play, I'unno. You get a full respec when you choose your subclass, so if you feel like experimenting up till then, feel free. Dunno if/how respecs come in later on.

You also get a respec at level 48, I think, when you awaken into your new class. No free respecs past that that I'm aware of.

The problem with most of my combos is that it usually requires me to smack grounded targets once or twice to keep 'em feeling the hurt. Problem is, I can't do that to Gunners.

For example: sway > chopping hammer(?)(bugger names) > dash > Ducking Straight punch > running punch combo > (combo here, pick your favorite, maybe exquisite or machine gun) > grab > ground pound skill.

Stops pretty early in when the gunner is too flat to smack and he gets to attack to get up.

Ahhhh, I see. I'm unfortunatly not that well versed in PvP to help out that much, always been a PvE guy, but you might buzz around on the DFO source forums and see what people have to say. Or this forum, that's less well known. Also gives alternative builds to those on DFOsource, for people that look up builds.

EDIT: Just managed to log on for the first time in a while, so the names, classes, and levels have been updated.

OOoh. Logged on today, to find I had 10k NX on my Asura. Which promptly went to a few safe upgrades and a pet. No idea where it came from. Maybe one of the events had it as a reward....

Bumping for REVOLUTION UPDATE today. Male mages, anyone?

I'm not sure if it actually patched yet, as I haven't been able to play. Is it all that we dreamed of, and so much more?
e: Apparently they're doing maintenance, and after that it'll be Revolution time. Supposedly it'll be done in about an hour from this post.
ee: Okay, maintenance is over, you can play now. Cool.

Also of note is that they are working on getting DFO into steam, in free online games. Maybe they'll even use some of steams servers and get rid of that retarded P2P system for NA. That'd be REALLY nice.
