That may be the case, actually. I got the 30 number from one of my older characters that I've since restarted, so maybe he just accumulated a ton, and hit a cap or something.

I played this for a while with friends, and thoroughly enjoyed myself as a short distraction, with my fairly high level Necromancer. I don't think I ascended into a Defiler, but I believe I was fairly close to it. Loved the large summon (Vallacre) that mirrored my attacks, as it made good portions of the game at my level almost trivially easy.

Never got around to levelling anything else, because I got bored and the friends I played with slowly dropped out as well. Plus, I tended to accidentally activate abilities via the fighting game combinations (half circle up... on a WASD control?) and being without the cooldown or minus the mana could hurt at times.

The other thing that bugged me was the insanely low resolution, but I saw the above and might consider playing a bit after the next patch.

Okay, so... newbling tips? Currently I'm kinda' looking at the ranking system for dungeons like it lost its mind.

I understand how to keep it high (and can generally do >90% without particular effort), but what I don't understand is if keeping it high is worth not playing (what seems like) optimally for a mage of my level (9 or so, now), i.e. turning the screen into an impromptu danmaku level via magic missile machine gun spam. Because missile spam is somewhat more enjoyable that xxa or xxxs-ing my way through each individual monster. Also ridiculously faster.

Just general suggestions would be nice. No clue what I'm supposed to be keeping an eye on or aiming for, other than "more dakka." Should I just be ignoring finesse and blowing everything to hell or is there a point to doing things more methodically in this early phase?

Basically, if you don't kill something as part of a combo, your % goes down. All % does though is quest requirements, unlocking some of the higher difficulties for dungeons and s30% bonus exp for SSS, with progressively lower bonus until you get to like C rank or something. You really don't need the bonus exp probably. Just do it for quests you want to do and to unlock difficulties.

Yeah, the occasional expert+ run I've been doing for quests tends to rank a bit higher, despite my tactics not changing one wit. Comes from m.missile not instagibbing everything it hits (and sometimes everything behind whatever it hits, too). Normal's still kinda' silly, but I guess I'm not exactly far yet. Only level thirteen, heh.

Do wonder if all the other classes have a "walk through early game by spamming this and only this" skill. Because the mages do. It's borderline farcical.

Am wondering what my next skill should be, though. Tried Pluto so far, and compared to m.missile it's a bit of a joke.

Mages and ranged charecters tend to have an easier time of early stages, because everything has really low HP, and the low(er) damage of ranged classes isn't exactly a "con" yet, because everything dies in three hits max anyway. You will start to have a harder time later, but generally, all classes have a pretty easy time with early dungeons, yep.

I generally suggest going to the highest difficulty you have unlocked whenever you can, because early on it's really not a huge boost in difficulty (because all of the enemies move slowly and are melee enemies), and it results in.... more drops and exp I think? The drops may just be for quest items though. Once you get to sky tower you should prolly be a bit more cautious about that though.

Annnd finally, yep, Monks are quite a bit more combo based then most classes (male/female fighter might be close, but even then I think a monk can generally get a higher combo if they know what they're doing, if not higher damage necessarily), so you should probably be around an S rank (if not higher) most of the time, unless you're just gettin clobbered by the enemies for whatever reason.

The game doesn't really get that much harder. The vast majority of the difficult is just learning how to fight enemies. Once you know what to do 75-99% of the difficulty is gone.

The Best example is the Ice Zombie boss. Once you learn he hurts you if you don't jump, something the game won't tell you, he is easy.

The main difficulty for me, as an Asura, Is seeing what the hell is happening in the massive cloud of enemies I am infi-comboing. Drat superarmor and badly timed misses =( Can't guard what you can't see. Oneshotting normal road bosses is fun though.

Weelp. One dungeon run from hitting witch when gaming window closed for the night. Ehn. So yeah, level 18 now. Got a few hours in :P

Also have a level eight or so slayer now, going by Dhoorm. Clears out dungeons much faster than m'mage did and manages to get much higher and more consistent high ranks in the early game (Though the Mage is now S and SSing most on-par difficulty areas, strictly via missile spam and a little bit of Pluto use. Also chugging mana potions like addict, though :-\), bleh. Despite doing considerably less damage overall. Better AoE, I guess, at least with the skills I've been using. Thrust was really nice, heh. Being able to combo from dash is useful for speeding things up and keep rank.

That said. Homing (enhanced, I guess) magic missile sounds like sex, and witches get that. Hence playing mage and about to hit witch. Whee.

So I made my characters and they are as of right now level 1: Brophiuchus, a Female Fighter (nobody told me there was a male one until after and I was like DANGIT) and Ibrose, a Mage.

Let's do this.

Time to throw the slayer or new priest back in, then~

Speaking of which, levels in the op are like... all inaccurate :P

Anyway, can add Thejil to the list for me. Level 10 priest, aiming for avenger.

Hahahahaha, yeah that quest is pretty great. Screen is constantly filled with neon sword lasers and spinning doodads.

And materials are used to create stuff, but you will find recipes fairly rarely. So unless you have a particular equip in mind to be made, I'd typically just sell all of the random junk, keep any cube fragments (They're used in like, every other quest) and keep stuff you need for quests/recipes you're interested in. In my experience crafted equipment doesn't seem to sell for a lot on the auction house, but that may change at the higher levels.
