Wheelbarrows and Water

Can wheelbarrows be used to haul water to muddy stone or fill a well?

As far as I have heard, no. Minecarts do the job fine, however. You can also have dwarves fill a pond with zoning and buckets. I'd suggest people do some science on this.

How do you fill a minecart with water? Do you just pass it under falling water or is there a less haphazard way to fill them? If using falling water, will some of it miss the minecart, and what is the maximum fluid capacity of a minecart (I would presume 7)?
