Wearing Bling
« on: May 29, 2012, 11:59:56 am »

Anyone else like to put on the earrings, bracelet etc for their adventurer? Whenever I kill someone, I make a habit of taking at least one piece of their jewelry and wearing it. Seems so cool to do so.

Also, since I'm greedy, I carry a bag of gems around all the time, even if it weighs me down. I wish I could create a camp myself and store all my valuables.

Does anyone know if you drop some items, say a chest of gems, in a location if it will disapear when I leave the area and go travelling?

It doesen't disappear in 0.34.xx. Before that items disappered, but not anymore.

I don't wear much jewelry, but if I find like cool rings or things made from awesome materials, I take them.
I use camp or abadonded building in town to store my valuable things. I often have two backbacks. Another one has weapons and food, while in other there are money, clothes from enemies, things to be sell, books, and stuff like that. I drop the other backback always before fighting.

this is good news for me, and thank you for the back pack idea.

I usually have a place to sell all these things i pick up but .. there isn't a town near by and i have no companions.. i don't really know what to do about it.

So now at least i can hustle all my small time loot into one place and keep it there while i try to find a way out of this mess.

As for the jewlery: I'm wearing the jewlery of a fallen comrade. She had family in some other part of this world - It'd be cool to take it to them. She had a raven bone crown and other bone fancy wear.

Even better, use the heavy as heck backpack as a preemptive strike. Throw it at you enemy!

Granted, only throw it at an enemy you know you can defeat. I threw one at a colossus and when I went back for it the colossus was wielding it.

It was a really nice backpack... It had my previous three adventurers in it.

For jewelry - I look for and buy jewelry that's been encrusted with gems or valuable metal ores (from 300 to 1000☼), to store monetary value in.
I used to wear all my jewelry, but that just cluttered up the first few pages of my inventory and remove menus. I decided to remove them all and put them in a backpack. (though then they clutter up my wear menu.)

[On backpacks/inventory - I use four backpacks, and one is for all my money-related items (coins, giant spider silk clothes, gems, and jewelry) - it's about 13 pages long, but only 90Γ. That way, by removing and wearing the backpack, I can move all extraneous items to the bottom of the lists.]

In 31.25, I was always covered in bone bling, but now not so much.

I wear jewelry for the monetary value. Civs are so small I don't bother to carry coin, I just barter it directly on the rare occasions I find something worth trading for. I kind of get attached to the masterworked stuff, so I keep a variety of qualities I don't mind parting with and I can exchange without feeling like I'm getting ripped off.

In regards to the latter question, .31 wisdom still carries forward into .34, and remember - all lairs are your banks. No item scatter, easy to find and they preserve food. You can even embark on them to reclaim your adventure mode spoils in fortress mode.

As for the former, I stopped carrying gems and the like (still stash them though), with the most valuable items being a diamond, an emerald and several steel pieces, but I'm currently up to almost full steel armour (still need boots, gauntlets and greaves), weaponry and 19 pages of jewelry. Oh, and I also keep a waterskin full of vampire blood, just in case, but I've never had to use it, never been a vampire and intend to keep it that way.

I like to claim a lair from one of the beasts I've vanquished, and use that for storage.  You can also sometimes find furniture in shops and just laying around, so that adds a nice touch to the lair.

Chests filled with treasure, a couple of nice chairs, and a pile of leather (or furs, if you're playing wanderer's friend, which I have been lately) to simulate a bed.
