Guess what my dwarves worship!
« on: May 28, 2012, 01:37:52 pm »

Thuveg the Spongy Bottle of Business, the deity of family and children. I lol'd at this.

Does anybody remember completely hillarious deity names?

Can't remember the name right now, but I found it interesting that my civ's favorite god is the dwarven god of suicide...

While not a funny name, one of my worlds had a Onol, the two-legged rhino lizard goddess of the dwarves.

Does anybody know where I can find the list of these things in the raws? I want to see what combinations can be made.

I don't know about the raws, but I tend to use legends viewer for this.

Well gee, that's... pleasant.

Thought I'd look into the viability of beekeeping as a primary food source, took a look at my new beekeeper in the new world and he's an ardent worshiper of that.

Makes me think of bee keeping in dead corpses.... something like african killer bees maybe?

Enemy corpses, most likely.  Exposed hematite veins on the surface, dolomite boulders, and lots of trees.

Spotted three hives at first glance around the place, looks promising so far.

The possibilities are really just about endless. The game uses a combination of the spheres set up in the entity with [RELIGION_SPHERE:xx], related spheres to those, and the various words that a civilization uses to form a randomly generated name. As such you can really end up with just about anything.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

This is the deity list for my current civ:

the bird falcon peregrine Ral the Earthen Beak (metals, mountains)
the dwarf Limar (wealth)
the dwarf Ushdish (jewels, minerals)
the dwarf Savot (fortresses, sun)
the dwarf Sakrith Keyscorched (valor, war)
the dwarf Ritas (darkness)
the dwarf Tustem (truth)
the dwarf Lilar the God of Law (discipline, order)
the dwarf Nosim the Speechless Humility (silence)

I like how those last two just happen to match up pretty well.  The first one is interesting too, because peregrine falcons occasionally enter my site.

My favorite in my current fort (Zonnish, a dwarven community prison, if you like you can check it out on the Community Games and Stories sub forum). Istbar Spryfancies, the god of pregnancy.

Noleth Oceanseas, dwarven goddess associated with salt. Geddit? Salt? Ocean? Sea?

But, honestly, she seems like a nice gal. Makes plenty of strange artifacts, slabs mostly.

Of course, then there's Nanges. The Dwarven Goddess of Trees. Must have been corrupted by the elves.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with trees.  They make some of the best non-artifact beds you can get, lightweight bins, and serve as low-grade coal that grows back.  Elves are the ones who disrespect trees.  No appreciation for the full range of their many uses, and no recognition of their ability to replace losses.
