EMPOREX - The Founding of an Empire

Rules please read
http://www.angelfire.com/games2/warpspawn/Emporex.html

"Welcome my Lord. Welcome to your fief.
In ancient times before memory or records, rulers sent four star ships, lost technology that can launch any where in the galaxy.
With these ships, the rulers launched to 1000 different star systems with planets.
As we know now, only 24 planets were successfully colonized, and only 4 planets gained any significant prosperity.
These colonies were lost to time when several countries on earth launched nuclear weapons, destroying the means to make, and communicate with the star ships.
This was over thirty millennium ago. In that time Earth's environment recovered, and the survivors rallied to the first emperor.
Now, the fourteen thousandth, six hundred, and thirty second emperor has discovered the ancient lab in which the star ships were developed.
While most of the lab and its ancient technology was unsalvageable, there was working equipment. Among this lost technology was a visual communicator.
After years of hard work, our scientists and engineers were able to restore it's function.
What they found surprised even the infallible emperor, other humans, on different planets.
Contact was made with four planets, the most wealthy and prosperous planets, which were able to preserve their ancient's technology.
These planets were -

Lortran

Gurati

Kadesh

Nitrix

- these planets were heavily populated and rich in resources.
The emperor, knowing that these planets most be brought into the empire, began a project to bring leaders and nobles from earth onto these new planets.
Finally, after collaboration with scientists on both earth and the other worlds unlocked the secrets of star ships, unfortunately the new star ship were more limited.
These star ships were dubbed Jump Ships.

Constructing a fleet of 6 jump ships, and sending two to each of the four planets, the emporer ordered YOU, servant of the empire, to take control of these home worlds, and unite the far flung worlds under one rule!"

If you want to play, please post this:

Nobles list
Leader (you)
Mentat
Other leader (son/daughter/adviser etc.)

Planet list:
Home planet JS(jumpships) NA(nuclear arsenals): Armies(on planets):

Solats:(everyone starts with 0)

Allies:(no one starts with allies)

This will be a first come first serve.
When four people have joined we will start.

Is that a Harkonen badge I see?

Anyway, aside from a preliminary sign up list (vide infra), I have some questions about the setting:
  • We need to provide a list of planets belonging to our fief, or at the very least, a home planet. Yet apparently the Empire (glory be with it) was shocked by the discovery of other colonized worlds and the development of jump ships. Does that mean this list is for further book-keeping purposes or does the Empire (glory be with it) actually span multiple worlds?
  • Are mentats similar to the mentats in Dune?
  • How about technology and Imperial Law? Are self-thinking machines off-limits? Are there bans on using nuclear weapons? What kind of other weapons exist? Do Holtzman shields exist?
Spoiler: House of Nassau (click to show/hide)

I can of rule of cool'd the intro.

So, answering your questions,

The Empire does not span multiple planets. Only Holy Earth is under control of the mighty Empire. The planets are for book keeping, when further planets are brought into the fold.

Rule of cool, so yes.

Technology is advancing rapidly,  and going off the bare info that the rules gives us, Thinking machines are not banned, nor strictly regulated, at least not on some of these newly colonized. (Giant death ROBOTS!)
The Empire is feudal. This is slightly different from other feudal societies, because the leaders of different countries work under different governments and laws. A large portion of them are democratic for example. All leaders owe fealty to the Emperor, of course.
Since nuclear weapons are one of the staples of these rules(it seems, never played this in RL or otherwise), so no, nuclear weapons are fair game on the New Colonies.
In terms of weaponry and shields, think Warhammer 40K. Again, RULE OF COOL.
Ice berserkers? Damn right!

Also, your home planet is classified, does that mean your still deciding which planet to rule?

No it means that I didn't quite get what you meant with ' home planet'. Anyway, I'll update it if you can give me some details on what kind of armed forces we start with.

Scratch that, I wasn't reading things right...

And so the Houses were chosen.

The House Nassau was the first to be chosen by the Emperor.
Old, ancient, the house was always honorable to the Emperor, and he knew that the house would bring wealth and spread loyalty to his new subjects on these far flung worlds.

To Lortran was sent Duke Fredrich Allexander of Nassau,
With Joseph Kodenstov on his right and Lady Nicole Smith on his left.

The Emperor, realizing that money would be needed to run the New Empire of the Stars, granted High Count Blecit two jump ships, and gave him his blessing.
Shrewd tactics in the combat arena of the planetary stock market left Count Blecit an extremely wealthy man. So wealthy, that after tracts of land were purchased he founded a country. Built on capitalism, the country prospered as money flowed out and into the royal treasury. Quickly becoming the most wealthy country, Count Blecit jumped on the chance to exploit new and rich worlds.

To Gurati was sent High Count Blecit,
on his right was High Thinker Maximus, to his left his son Blecit the second.

(Also, Blecit, Maximus, and Blecit ARE your nobles. I'll ignore Lance, Henry and John.)

A man of great faith, the Emperor soon came to the conclusion that High Lord Daresh would be the perfect leader to spread faith to the many heathens, which was everybody not worshiping the Emperor.
Daresh wormed his way to power through corrupt channels, messed with the elections, and preached the high path while taking the low. However, unlike what one might expect, the High Lord Daresh used his powers to oust church officials that helped him into, simultaneously eliminating his rivals, and rooting out the rotting parts out of his rather large country. He was reelected a second time without any kind of tampering.

To Kadesh was sent High Lord Daresh,
with Kalimor on his right and Malic on his left.

Anathor Aidach the First was an odd choice. Leading a newly created country based on the principles of honor, Anathor lead a rebellion on a small island nation, killing the despotic leader before he could request help from Emporex forces.
Little can be said of Anathor, a nigh immortal genetically modified human. It is unknown if he also received cybernetic enhancements. What is know is that he always wore massive body armor, mechanical and robotic, gave him strength beyond compare(except for the Emperor and his Successor) he was also a brilliant tactician. Nobody knows why the Emperor chose Anathor, but many think that Emperor chose Anathor to be his general in the New Empire.

To Nitrix went Anathor Aidach the First,
on his right Eidon Dearon, on the left Dengor Aidach II.

(if you don't like what I did with your house/leader/country please just say so, I was trying to flesh out each one a little more)
(Also, I will be posting more in a bit. Double post, I know I know, just be ready for another post soon)

But then, only three months after the jump ships launched, disaster struck.

(for scale, the buildings are actually the tops of thousand story high. If you wonder why there is still atmosphere they expanded it back in the 38th millennium)

This is a picture of the event.
As you can see, the large structure is the Citadel.
Above it is the use of an alien weapon.

We have no idea what happened. The Emperor and all his Successors were all killed.
The world is in disarray. In the year you've been between the stars the earth has been split.

The Emporex is the survivors of the Empire, and their sister faction the Sisteria.  They control most of the fourth continent. This is an artificial continent, constructed by the Emperors. The leaders of the Emporex have cobbled together the Imperial factions into a single united faction, however tensions are high. The Emporex unites everything from the Imperial army to the Imperial Bureaucracy. Most factions control individual armies, with land and people they managed to grab ruled under a dictatorship, ruthlessly exploited to give them a hand over the other Emporex.

Most factions that developed after the fall of the Empire are independent, semi-legal organizations either selling goods to the fractured world, or trying to capitalize on the new frontiers created by the discovery of space travel.
An odd case, the Church of Mankind gained a massive resurgence and became quite popular, in part do to religion being much less restricted with the death of the Emperor(hard to have a religion without a god), and in part to the refuge allowed to members.
However, certain cults have become public, and banded together under the flag of an unknown messiah, calling themselves the Discordian Heretics.

Two other factions stand out from the rest. The 5th Sector Rebels and the Rimspace Pirates. The Rebels are from Sector 5, as implied by their name, which is an industrial Sector dedicated to constructing Nuclear weapons. It was decimated during the ancient nuclear war, and produces  nuclear devices for use in power plants. It is only mentioned in ancient texts as "Eagle land".
However, with the death of the Emperor, rebellious elements of the population assassinated the leader and killed all imperials living in the Sector. Though extremely unstable, without leadership, and regularly committing various war crimes, the Emporex has yet to crush them, do to underhanded and guerrilla tactics. Their brothers in cause, the Rimspace Pirates, are from a ancient prewar country called the "Red Army", also decimated by early nuclear warfare, but with the industry power pointed towards space ship construction. Thus, when they followed the Rebels example, they fled into space using stolen jump ships, fleeing onto uninhabited edge worlds, thus Rimspace Pirates. Many slaves and lots of loot were taken before the Pirates fled.

We are here.

(before you ask communicators don't work mid jump. Also the technology behind it is kind of... it works but we don't know exactly how.)
(Next post will be ACTUAL game stuff, stayed tuned)

((Nigh immortal, genetically modified, clad in power armor, and the strongest man alive other than the now deceased Emperor and his successor? Add in the would be role as commander and I should totally rename myself Horus! Also, that is what mankind gets for building their capital on top of Mordor  :P))
