You've been added, Splint. Same nickname? For that matter, any nicknames from those who haven't said it yet?

There are two Starting Seven dwarves left. We could use a bookkeeper/manager and a broker. Or a bookkeeper/manager/broker.

I'll take Aira again if I may. I'll take whatever personality is randomly generated and add a comment or two on top, if that's okay. And you can give her (or him if necessary) whatever job you want - I'm fine with the secretarial work.

Alright. That's what you'll be then. One dwarf left, any non-military job O.K.
Now to start the tale of the brave little dwarf that tried to settle in Zonnish.

-----

Led Bridgefists, Explorer of Zonnish
Today is the 19th of Slate, in the one hundred and twenty-sixth year of the world. I've got a knife, a waterskin, a backpack, and some giant toad kidney. I will go to Zonnish. Surely they will enjoy my presence?
I went to Moistendipped, a human hamlet west and slightly south of Helmtrades. I left in the morning, taking a spear and a knife as was traditional. I went to Throwplanes to recruit help, but was laughed off. Those humans can be so rude sometimes.
Some time in the early afternoon, I came across a river. Shortly thereafter, I reach the Brutal Plain, which is remarkably forested. I cross a brook and reach Zonnish shortly before nightfall. I hide myself amongst the vegetation and approach where I know the fort is. I know I'm in the right spot when I see a  dwarven tooth and a log. Looking past some more trees, I see other signs of former habitation--an empty barrel here, some logs over there, but nothing big. Something happened here.
More barrels. More logs. Another tooth. A mangled dwarven skeleton--wait, what's that? I walk over to the skeleton, still hiding, and examine it. I see clothes scattered all around, and a journal nearby.
Flipping through it, I see something...horrible. Some sort of bluish ash drifts through this cursed place every so often. Once, a lone raven flew into this cloud, and instantly began attacking everything. It spread the ash to other ravens, and to livestock. Finally, most of the dwarves were these “cursed ash husks.” Looking up, I see such a husk--a former dwarf. I sneak past it, towards what seems to be a classic “Cavein-Plug” method of aquifer piercing. The tranch is too deep for me to safely jump down through; I'll have to find some other way.
I see a husk-looking raven and, behind it, a cloud of some sort of bluish foggy stuff. Curious, I investigate. I note another dwarf, wearing shell armor and fancy, decorated clothes, then two miners, standing listlessly, clutching their picks. I approached the mist, and suddenly the wind shifted! I'm engulfed...so thirsty...must sate blood-thirsiness! So angry!
Go down stairs. See cavern, dug by dwarf. See two minecarts, grab them, drop some stuff, why do I need spear? Gotta leave. Maybe find warm-blood somewhere else. Talk with husks. They not know much. Not even wanna come with me.
Found frozen river. Rodee minecart across. Fun. Not-fun when hit tree, then fly out and hit other tree. Flying fun, but breaking bones not-fun.
Goblin with spear attack. I drop cart and run over. I break goblin with other minecart and fingernails. Eventually, he husk too. Goblin with maul show up. Run him over with cart. Goblins fight. Spear-husk punch out hammer-goblin's brains out. Other husk not like me. He rip off finger, so I hit him with cart. I do it again, but then miss. Minecart fun weapon, but hard. Husk break hand with minecart, so I ride minecart at him. I do that again some, then jump out. That hurt--me not do that again. Husk scratch me in head. Brain hurts. Hey! I planning to use that some time! Me keep pushing minecart at husk. Now HIS brain broken!
How he alive? Oh, yeah, he not.
He scratch off me teeth. I hit him with cart. I hit with cart more. It not good to hurt other husk, so I ride minecart away. I get other cart after going past, and ride first cart off away from other husk. I need to carry cart up hill, but lots of fun to ride down. Got to fly again. Left.

Gonna find some more warm-blood to kill. Gonna use carts. It fun to use carts. Maybe I fly off roof. That fun.

Minecarts are fun.

YOU have no godly idea how much fun that was to do. At some point I realised I was a dwarven husk, riding a minecart, hitting a goblins husk with another minecart.

I wonder what'll happen with that goblin, though. I think I'll try settling in that general area. Not much chance that I'll even get the right spot, but hey, I can dream.

Next part of the Tales of Led Bridgefists. Last part of the interlude. Led's growing used to the new psychology and brain damage, so his writing's a bit less...crude.

-----

Find fortress. Turnedplane. It still night, 20th. No big hills by fortress, so can't fly in. Sad. Find door. Can't cart throuh it. Sad. Walk through and ride cart. Hit human maceman and break spine.
Happy!
Speed around fortress, trying to find more people. Maceman yells for help. Calls me “that dwarf that came in here this morning.” Other human maceman, this one with flail and coins in pouch on cap, comes at me. Bruises abdomen. Hit him a couple times with minecart. Broke his brain. He's not dead. Must be a husk. I take husk's shield--knocked his hand apart while not-husk--and watched husky kill a pikeman.
Saw a lasher sleeping in grass. Hit him in head with other minecart. Found a keep. More people wake up. I wonder what the mace-husk is doing. I go into keep. Find lord. Try to take his purse, but he wakes up, so I hit him with minecart a few times. I realize I turn lord into a husk, so I leave. Give lord-husk free minecart--husks need look out for others! Not-husks not know husks like husks know not-husks. Lord-husk not want me to leave--he even hit me! I gotta go, though, more warm-blood.
I climb tower, find sleepy crossbow-guy. Hit him with minecart. He falls out window. I go down tower--can't go out window--and out front door. I jump out of cart early, hit head. Brain hurt more. Bad wall! Mace-husk hit me with flail. I not think he like me. Another mace-husk, with a morningstar, showed up. I think the husk I made made friends! I ran out doors and tossed my cart on the ground, then rode away. I started getting out of control, but crashed into the fort exactly where I wanted to. I found the crossbowman I shoved out the window. He was all sleepy and husky and broken-spiney. I hit the crossbow-huska few times, then get bored and run him over as I leave. I hit a tree; the cart smashes my heaad, and then I flew away and hit a tree, breaking my arm and leg.
Dawn broke. I near a hamlet--Moistendipped. I pause to wash in the river--I'm sick of making husks on accident--and approach the hamlet.
At least, that's plan. I find river frozen! How sad. I find me melting as I try to melt it by setting a bush on fire. Can there be connection?
Hey, these people nice. I'll live here for a while. Maybe show them this book I have.
---
And so, Led the husk brought the journal back to the town he started in. In this way, the news of Zonnish's destruction spread to the world. The dwarven king realsed that, while he could send prisoners to this cursed land, he'd risk spreading these husks over the world. King Rith considered. He began choosing seven new dwarves, more expendable than the seven he sent to Zonnish, and to an area in which they would not die instantly.

Alright, I've chosen a location and figured out supplies and skills. Once I get the images uploaded, I'll get started!

BTW, anyone know a good site to upload pictures to for forum use? Tinypic seems to be having issues.

Do all imagehosting websites not work today? Fine, I'll post it without pics.

King Rith gazed over the map of the world, searching for the perfect place for the new prison.

It was a bit farther away from the nearest Mountainhome than old Zonnish was, but it was in a much warmer area, and less deadly. Sure, the Plains of Pride were home to massive monsters, but those are big enough to scare off any deserters, not much more. The soil might be saturated, and the water brackish, but those are no obstacles for a race as mighty as the dwarves!
He had selected his group by hand, making sure that they understood that this would end MUCH better than the expedition started last year.
Obviously, there were seven. One, the best at writing and a coworker of one the mason of the previous attempt at forming a prison, was GreatWyrmBrass Assaultroom.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A childhood friend of the fisher, farmer, and wannabe-speardwarf of the previous expedition, was Splint Glovedmachine, who is a speardwarf.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Splint's CO would be one known currently as “BerzerkNINJA” due to her fighting style and tendancies towards anger. Tomesromances is an ironic family name.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Making sure neither of them died was a medic known as “Broken,” hopefully not an indication of her skil at medical care.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The dwarf in charge of secretary positions is Sappho Craftsyawns. She is also an engraver.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The first prisoner being sent to the new Zonnish is a political prisoner, one Bomrek “Dagger” Gazechanneled. She is a suspected “goblin-lover.” “Dagger,” for that is what she prefers to go by, is a brewer, and also skilled in many other areas, notably assorted farming skills.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Right now, you're doubtlessly wondering who the seventh is. Naturally, as the time the expedition set out approached, King Rith began to worry. Just in time, a mysterious yet average woman arrived, stating that she wished to join the venture. Those were the last words any heard her speak for months. She seems to have some useful skills. All that is really known about her is her surname: Actseal.
Supplies were important, and not skipmed on. Two picks, a battleaxe, a large supply of alcohol in three varieties, some seeds, some meat and fish, almost two dozen plump helmets, a wheelbarrow, some medical supplies, a barrel of lye, a rope, two each of copper shields and breastplates and bronze helms, three turkeys, three dogs, two cats, and a pair of GreatWyrmBrass's rabbits. To avoid bad luck and confusion, the various dwarves suggested naming their new fort “Boatjoin.” In their interest, the fortress was named “Zonnish Kukon,” Helmtrades the Recreation. Their group name was agreed on by the seven as The Large Helms.

King Rith bid them farewell and good luck.

Splint: No, it was a very specific clusterfuck. Husks

As soon as ,y DF computer's internet works again, I'll post another update and try to add screenshots. The new update is mostly dull, but I'm two ahead--I reached the first migrant wave. It's a big one.
