What does this mean? What should I do?

Werebeasts are historical figures who were cursed by a god or bitten by a werecreature during worldgen. They are elves, humans, dwarves, goblins or animal people who turn into an animal-like monster during the full moon.

A werebeast attack is like a semimegabeast attack- it is a strong aggressive enemy who will try to get into your fort and kill your dwarves. Some werecreatures are very strong; others are not- it generally depends on the strength of the animal type they derive from. A wereelephant is a terrifying foe; a weremonkey is probably not but still should be treated with caution.

However, it is possible that the phase of the moon will change and it will transform back into a person before it even reaches your fort.

If a dwarf is bitten by a werebeast during the attack hard enough to cause an injury more severe than bruising, it may transform into a werebeast every full moon, leading to !!FUN!!.

Well great, my military is so weak that I use the term 'military' in a loose sense of the word. I think I might be screwed.

It says it is weak and small in it's description, IDK if that helps.

WTF??

Fun fact: werebeasts are [TRAPAVOID], but only when in beast form. A were-something feline rushed into my fort, and began wrestling with the dozen war animals pastured near my trade depot. Neither side succeeded in causing serious harm (though a war giant rat has bitten off a few fingers of the creature) until the poor thing transformed back into it's normal form. Right on top of a weapon trap containing 5 serrated steel discs. He regained the missing fingers, and promptly lost a leg, both arms, his guts, and a lung.

Wait, it got a lung cut out? Man, that's an exact trap.

Don't you love it when your *Adamantine Great Axe* manages to knock out a chipmunk's left lower back teeth without damaging anything else on its body?

There are plenty stranger injuries in DF which you should question.

Well, not cut out, but teared apart. Functionally the same, poor schmuck bled to death in a tick.

Oh, that's nothing compared to a goblin biting your wrestler in the left upper arm. After the wrestler just grabbed the goblin's lower left back teeth with his right lower leg. Try picturing that.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.
