This is quite the list.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

SNES was good for RPGs :P

It and the PSX1 were kinda' king for that general period, though the NES was pretty heavy, too, just didn't have nearly as much translated, comparatively. Doesn't mean there's no gems on the other stuff (Except N64. It had ogre battle and paper mario and iirc that was bloody it. At least that was officially released in english.)

The N64 also had Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage - a game which I'm tempted to LP, if I didn't have another game going already.

Other than that...I dunno :P

This on an emulator on an iPod touch, so it's kind of difficult for any other system (if you guys know of a free GBA emulator available through Cydia, let me know).

Romancing Sage 2 is pretty good, unfortunately the best translation I've seen only sets the menus to English.  You can play the game, but you can't understand any of the story.  Definitely worth playing, but the lack of English story might cause you not to finish it.

Super Mario RPG

It still blows my mind to this very day that Super Mario RPG is actually one of the best RPGs.

Also you can get Romancing Saga the first for the PS2 (a remake sorta). Some of the weirdest things are
1) Albert is now a Butterfly man
2) They removed Battle 2 and gave a really awsome thing but not as iconic as battle 2.

Any of these mentioned in this thread are good choices.
Unfortunely some really really good ones were only released in japan, but fortunely some awesome guy made translation hacks for them here. It shouldn't be against forum rules to link it here, since it doesn't contain any roms or anything like that, just the files you need to translate them. You can get translations for the first shin megami tensei and super robot war games there too, and I recommend every single one of them

There a pretty obscure rpg for the snes called Dark Law: The Meaning of Death with a pretty dark atmosphere. Despite being released only in japan it got sort of a western feel to it. Apparently it got multiple endings also. I really recommend it.

Yeah, romhacking.net is the larger compendium for older game translations, which is why I linked it ;D

AGTP cross releases all their stuff over there, heh. Iirc, Gideon Zhi, AGTP's main public figure, has a major hand in moderation or maintenance or something for romhacking.net. It's a good place to keep an eye on if you want to pick up news of most translation releases, really.

But yah, AGTP's release list is largely like a rolling parade of win and rainbows and puppies and stuff. Major quality comes from there.

Man, I've been wanting to try Super Robot Wars, but I can't understand a character of that crazy moon language* they get released in. I'll have to check that site out.

*Just kidding, Japanese folks. Nothing but love for ya.

Straight to the links! The gameboy one's supposed to be pretty weak, though. Being the first and all that, heh.

Any of those RPGs happen NOT to be super grindy? And without random encounters?

Chrono Trigger. Awesome progression, and doesn't have random encounters.

Indeed - you can avoid most monsters by walking around them.

(Though, if you can get a DS emulator... the DS re-release is a significant improvement. Dual screens make the combat easier to manage, and the endings make a little more sense.  ;D )
