What's that whirly system to the 'south-west' of Zhaen? Also, why did you choose to go for the money and not science or food? And what do jadonyx and Hyugens' rings do?

Indeed, Horatio is Horatio's strength, Horatio should probably focus on Horatio more than Horatio currently does.

Food for more Horatio and science for more places for Horatio. That's usually the most Horatian method of Horatio.

Some planet's possess anomalies which can be either beneficial or detrimental.  Hyugens Rings is a positive anomaly, whereas Toxic is a negative one.  Detrimental anomalies can have their effects reduced or negated when you get a little further down the tech tree.  The thumb represents happiness.

Jadonyx is one if a number of resources that provide bonuses when possessed by an empire.

The swirly system is a protostar.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I've gone for Dust (money) in this case because exploitations offer X resources per person on the planet + Y bonus resources per person if the planet is of a certain type.  These can expand with research, but the one for Dust is the only one that gives a bonus to Arid planets at present.  I can change it over if people would prefer we specialise a little more, I'm just naturally inclined towards scooping up every bonus available.

E: Also, heroes cost gold to hire/maintain and can have a massive effect on early growth.

I'll make more of an effort to explain all the mechanics from now on.  This is like my second attempt at an LP, so I hope you'll all forgive my stumbles :)

I know how anomalies and bonuses work, I didn't know what those specific ones would do.

When is n-fusion research going to be finished? I think colonising Zhaen III would be a pretty good idea. 7 science from a barebones planet and 6 more from population...

BTW, why are those two groups of values different if there's only one planet in the system?

The values above the a planet represent the raw amount of resources that planet is producing per turn, whereas the values at the top left show the overall 'profit' per turn for the system.

Systems start off with a colonial base which provides two food and industry.

That makes 11 food - 6 (2 per citizen) = 5 food and 8 industry.
I also get +2 science and dust due to it being my main system, but I'm actually losing 3.4 dust due to the low tax rate (I think that will reduce as the population rises, but I haven't checked this yet).  Raising the tax rate at this point would drop the population from content to unhappy, incurring a fairly substantial penalty to all resource production.  There are tooltips that show all this, but I'm going out to get very very drunk in a minute :D

Who are the heroes that we have available to hire? It would be good to know for when we get the money.

Meanwhile, I say send the scout north to the middle of the blue stars.

Spoiler: OOC stuff (click to show/hide)

We have received a brief transmission containing data about the Wordan system, but further attempts to contact our scouts have been unsuccessful.  While there will always be new Horatio, we do hope that nothing unfortunate happened to them.  Ships are not cheap.

On the lighter side, our colony ship has arrived at the Nerod system, which contains a planet that we could potentially colonise.

Spoiler: Nerod (click to show/hide)

Three individuals talented in the use have approached us to offer their services, although we currently lack the resources to hire them.

Fuck Nerod, go for Wordan. What do we need to colonize asteroids?

Also, that last hero looks delicious, especially if we're going to fo for expansion instead of aggression.

It's midway down the exploration/expansion branch and would take 2910 science to reach and unlock.  We're making 5 science a turn at present, so it'll likely be a while until we can get it.  If we're looking to colonise Wordan ASAP, the fastest way would be by researching the ability to colonise arctic worlds.

Nnnno, if it's so far, I guess we should stick to getting Zhaen III.

Geez, a pilot/commander and an administrator/corporate in the starting pick? I guess that makes up for losing your first scout on turn 2.  :)

Also, I'd steer well clear of Wordan for now. Hardly any food production anywhere in the system, and no chance of colonizing much of value until far down the tech tree. Grabbing Zhaen III might be worthwhile, though - there's a fairly early infrastructure building (can't remember the name) that gives +2 pop on 'tiny' planets. And IIRC, Tundra colonization is pretty easy to learn, with Arctic (for the boring-but-large Zhaen II) not far behind it. You could get a lot of Science out of that system.  ;)

Ooh, an Endless Space Horatio LP.
Mind if I make a second one, cooper? The Cravers and their destroying all the things could fit the dwarfs as well, since they get science from destroying ships.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

You may not.  I own the patent for Endless Space LPs.  Heh, go ahead man, the more the merrier :D

I'd absolutely love to do a multiplayer Let's Play when that gets added in.  Reckon you'd be up for it?

Yes. Multiplayer shall be the awesome, as long as it works. (and is slightly more balanced, etc)

How long until we can get another scout up, or better yet, multiple scouts up?
