Let's Play Endless Space [Horatio über alles]
« on: May 25, 2012, 04:00:06 am »

I guess it's customary to post a brief synopsis of the game here, but there's no way in hell I could write a better one than Thendash did in his thread.  Go read it here and come back again if you're interested, I can assure you this thread won't vanish while you're not looking.

So yeah, who are we?  The mercantile and expansionist United Empire, the technologically advanced but squishy Sophons, the aggressive Hissho, the devouring Cravers, or the insane clone army that is Horatio?

Horatio is dead.  Long live Horatio!

It was once said that the best laid plans of mice and Horatio often go awry, and this day has proven no exception.  Horatio was struck down by the treacherous Horatio in the very moment that his goals finally seemed within reach.  Intelligence reports that Horatio fled the scene of the crime, escaping with a single ship equipped with the means to clone further Horatio.  The vast majority of our fleets were later found to have been sabotaged.  I dread to think what further blasphemy they may be plotting.  Our revenge must be merciless, and as swift as physically possible.  Newly united under the banner of Horatio, our people await directions.

Our home system of Volans possesses but a single arid planet so we have little choice but to expand into a neighbouring system.  Two of our ships remain operational, one a colony ship and the other a scout.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Horatio has declared the formation of a Horatian Council to aid him in these troubled times.  Do we expand aggressively or focus on securing our territory before moving on?  Should our scientists be tasked with devising weaponry of any form, researching new colonisation techniques, or finding new ways to improve our existing infrastructure?  Which system should we scout out first?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Choose wisely, for the galaxy is dark and full of terrors.  (Sorry, I couldn't help myself there...)

Expand towards the center of the galaxy, colonize everything in sight, research more colonization!

Send ship to the binary star and the blue star.

Can we get a screenshot of the first tier research options for each direction?

Actually, I suggest researching N-Way Fusion first so that we can identify sources of Titanium-70. Better colonisation techniques are good, but they are of somewhat limited use at the moment as we do not know of any uncolonisable planets.

Greetings Horatians, I hope you're all feeling as Horatio as I am today.

First, I would like to say that focusing on our infrastructure would be for the best. With our fleets mostly out of commission we should work on getting our industry up to par asap. In regards to colony direction, the binary star system is our nearest galactic neighbor and therefore should be made a priority to scout & colonize. To that end, we should send our colony ship that way & our scout should head to the bright blue star near the bottom of our starmap.

I hope that the 12 Bays Council of Horatio will agree with me, if not, that is fine as we are all Horatio.

Some technologies grant more than one thing and it took 14 images to capture all the info.  I made a little gallery here for the sake of those with slow connections.

You forgot to screenshot the second stuffity on Xenology.

And I vote N-way fusion. That production bonus looks delicious.

The ever zealous Horatian scientists begin researching N-Way Fusion in the hope of vastly increasing our overall production.

Reports are received from our scout.  Horatio has reached Zhaen, a system containing four planets.  Unfortunately we lack the technology to colonise these planets yet.

They request new orders.

Meanwhile, construction of a colonial exchange begins back on Volans I.  If non-Horatio insist on existing even in this enlightened era, the least they can do is pay some taxes.
