Hey everybody, it has been a long time I don't play DF and yesterday I downloaded the 0.34.10 version.

In the first year, I received the message that the body of my fisherdwarf was found. He was at the bottom of my central stairway, close to a wooden log. The cedar wooden log had one notable kill. It is possible to someone to fell in the stairs all way down and hit the head in something he was carrying? Any other conspiracy theory?

EDIT:

In the log files I found the event description:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cedar logs strikes The broker in the upper body, bruising the muscle and bruising the liver through the (llama wool cloak)!
The broker slams into an obstacle!
The cedar logs strikes The broker in the lower body, bruising the muscle and bruising the guts through the (llama wool cloak)!
The broker slams into an obstacle!
The broker's right hand takes the full force of the impact, shattering the bone through the (alpaca wool right mitten)!
The broker's upper body takes the full force of the impact, bruising the muscle and bruising the liver through the (llama wool cloak)!
The broker's left lower leg takes the full force of the impact, shattering the bone through the (llama wool dress)!
The broker's head takes the full force of the impact, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing apart the brain!
The broker has been knocked unconscious!
The broker's right lower arm takes the full force of the impact, shattering the bone through the (llama wool cloak)!
The broker's right upper leg takes the full force of the impact, shattering the bone through the (llama wool cloak)!
StinthÑd Bavastzon, Fish Cleaner has been found dead.

I dont think the elves would waste their precious wood by throwing it at a dwarf.

I am glad to inform that the referred cedar log was judged guilty, transformed in a wheelbarrow and assigned to the refuse pile.

The wierd part is the fact that the piece of wood hit the guy TWICE. If it just fell on his head, it would have insta-killed him, and even if it didint, you would think a piece of wood falling on you would only hit you once, but if you read combat report, it "Strikes" him in the upper body, then the lower body, causing him to slam into a wall and die. Also, you would thank that whoever dropped the log would get the kill, causing a loyalty cascae,  but the log got the kill, so.....

My guess is it fell at an angle, hit him, started rotating, and the other end connected when they both hit the floor.

Say what? DF lists the kills of all objects?

Oh yeah. I've had dwarves grab stacks of prepared meals during tantrum spirals, then fling the entire stack, one by one, across the dining hall. In the process, the dwarf reached novice thrower skill, but killed a couple other dwarves. The meals that struck down their targets had a kill listed.

In this case, I suspect the cedar log knocked the dwarf down the stairwell, and it was actually the impact with the bottom z-level that did him in. Do you have any ghosts or tantrumimg dwarves? Otherwise, watch that wheelbarrow.

Falling objects now hurt. A lot. I tossed some dismembered bodies into a hole, and the dog pathed through it (must'a been lookin for bones), and some durn hauler threw a hand down there so! hard! that the mutt suffered compound fractures in the rib.

Being struck 'twice' might be the result of a large 'contact area' generating two reports.

Dwarves take their food fights seriously.
