A Herd of Traders, Grazing.
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:43:47 am »

Generated a new world with .10 with only five years of history.  Early summer, year 7, I am looking at the surface when I notice a herd of traders, grazing near a pond:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I don't know if these were migrants who were traders or actual caravan members.  They are dorfs though.  They just stay outside.

I get loads of these each migration wave. They leave with the dwarven caravan.

I guess catching them in cage traps is out of the question then.

You could probably knock them out with a cave-in onto a cage trap if you do it right. I just had a couple mowed down by a dragon. :D

I got a couple of those traders with my most recent fort, in the first large migration after the first dwarf caravan. I never saw that in any other fort and I wonder if it's because this world is a pocket region with ultra short history so there are very few historic dwarfs to choose from.

I think they would go insane under captivity. Unless they're merchant guards, in which case go nuts.
