Cutting an object and then re-adding it will not cause duplication errors, no.

Cutting a creature will not change any of the objects that reference it. You have to edit them, too. Cutting a vanilla creature is kind of a pain because of this, and will also break compatibility with other mods that depend on/attempt to modify that creature.

Cutting a creature will not change any of the objects that reference it. You have to edit them, too. Cutting a vanilla creature is kind of a pain because of this, and will also break compatibility with other mods that depend on/attempt to modify that creature.

Lol I just want my entitys to appear instead of  vanilla ones 100% of the time I'm not a big fan of having a regen the world over and over and over to get the entitys that I want. 😭🙏

Yeah I'm noticing cutting the vanilla creatures is a little troublesome I'm getting all kinds of weird issues I still haven't traced out all the causes yet , I'm getting extra creatures and I'm not sure why my goblin has 4 castes and in arena it shows two extra ones (duplicates of the goblins above them in the list) 😂.....

Wow mad embarrassing I realized what I was doing wrong your cut the entity line got me thinking and I'm like I thought I tried that but 🫠🫠🫠I was trying to use the default entities that was that was a mistake and dumb I don't know why I didn't notice that I was trying to do that🤡when  I converted all the entities to custom entities now everything works swimmingly !!!

At least I thought I was at first, now I'm getting a creature duplicate for some reason 😔😔😔😔 not sure where I got the silly thing defined  twice but I'll find it I guess if I look long enough
I can't find the duplicate entry lmao so I cut the sucker and it's gone now .... 🥹🫠🤡
I wish in arena I could put my mouse over a creature in the list and it tell me what raw file it was coming from LOL

I found it I finally found it, there was a duplicate because I had copy and pasted and whoops I made a copy and paste mistake duplicate

Found it by removing every single raw and adding them one by one I eventually found it 😅

I have a custom goblin creature and I copied the graphics from the goblin and attached dwarf beard styles to it.

They display nicely but they're always White even children have white hair I'm not 100% sure why it's doing this

In the layered graphic file for the dwarven hair the only thing I changed were the lines about the hair color I changed the color to the colors of the goblin hair.

I've done six different entities and I got all their hair working but these guys, I can't get them working for some reason.

I had the bpdy part name wrong in the raws. I put ''WINGS'' instead of ''WING''.

Could someone please explain the conept of creature variations to me as though im 5? Every description of it ive seen doesnt really make sense to me. If I wanted to make different distinct races for a creature, but have them all considered the same species (as opposed to making each race a seperate creature entirely) would that use creature variations? And will intelligent creature variations be able to coexist in the same civilization?

Creature variations are a means of adding tokens/tags to creature files. It's best to think of them as a scripting language that interfaces with how a creature is loaded. The main functions are adding tags (usually only makes sense in a predefined creature variation), removing tags, and altering the arguments of a tag.
Creature variations local to a creature are mainly used to remove tags. Here is an example from the sponge man, which starts off with the full sponge raws before it.

The game reading this will remove the nothought and immobile tags it inherited from the sponge, allowing sponge men to think and move like a normal creature.

Giant/man versions of animals get most of their traits from a predefined creature variation, but almost every creature uses predefined creature variations to add their different gaits (move speeds).

Having distinct races as part of the same species and entity would be done by having them as castes of the same creature. I don't know what differences you want, but you can assign different tags to different castes using the caste selection criteria [SELECT_CASTE:], [PLUS_CASTE:] (for selecting multiple), [USE_CASTE:] (for copying to a new one), etc.
Note: material and tissue IDs are notably used by all castes.

If you want to see raws after the effect of creature variations, [LOG_CURRENT_ENTRY] will print the raws generated after applying the creature variations in logs\current_entry.txt.

I have a mod that makes dragons intelligent, and occasionally appear in civilizations (by pretending to be gods, mostly). I don't particularly want my dragons to be wearing clothes, but of course, once they join a civilization that does, they develop a nudity taboo, and start to suffer mood drops from their nakedness. What are my options for fixing this?

Someone on the Steam Workshop suggested creating articles of "clothing" that are more-or-less flavor text, dressing my dragons in things like "arrogance" or "self-importance"; I think this is a really cool idea, but I don't know how I would go about restricting the clothes to dragons, if it is possible at all.
