My guess is that it was the name of a masterwork engraving or other thing that a dwarf just destroyed.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Rovod Asobomrist is a dwarven name, so no weird creature here. Must be a masterwork engraving or something.

Or a clumsy dwarf spilled a pickaxe on a marble artifact statue.

My guess is that it was the name of a masterwork engraving or other thing that a dwarf just destroyed.

Additionally, if it's mangled dwarven, the most probable reason is the automatic abbreviation system.

If it helps, "rovod" means "arch" (as in "the arch over the doorway"), "asob" means "board" (like a plank), and "omrist" means "wild".  So it probably translates as "The Arch of Wild Boards" or something like that.

Check the language_DWARF.txt file in the raw\objects folder if you need to translate Dwarvish to English.

When your dwarves mine through a masterpiece engraving, it'll report with that message. Masterworks that are lost/destroyed are always reported like that.

You quite probably have a Dwarf named Rovod Asobomrist. He made a masterful whatever (engraving/item) and somehow that was lost/destroyed.

and he will be fairly annoyed that you destroyed his masterwork. Getting a masterwork destroyed gives a pretty big happiness drag. If it was his only masterwork it might be enough to trigger a tantrum spiral.

If it was his only masterwork, I doubt anyone cares about him enough for a full-blown spiral.

This actually happens for ALL engravings, if I recall correctly. If you decide to dig through an engraved wall, for example, you'd be getting these messages. So, the lesson here is, try not to do it.

Not according to the wiki. Negative thought occurs when a masterwork is destroyed (works for any masterwork but only if it is destroyed or stolen, not if it is used up or consumed). Value is -200/x where x is the total number of masterworks, negative thought 39 on the wiki list 'has suffered the travesty of art defacement '.
So if this was his only masterwork in the fortress, -200 is enough to go from ecstatic to miserable, so this dwarf has a good chance to tantrum, if it spirals depends on what he does and the rest of your fortress. If the dwarf in question has a dozen masterwork engravings in the fortress the drop is not too bad and nothing should really happen.
