Random Animal Generator?
« on: May 19, 2012, 03:20:32 pm »

I know there has been talk of one before, but I've never seen a thread concerning it. Does anyone know if there is one out there of in development?

I know that there is currently a random plant generator, but I don't think that anyone is currently working on a random animal generator (other then the built-in one of course). My main guess would be that the complicatedness of animals makes it a fair bit harder to set up then a random plant or mineral generator.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Didn't someone set up a horse generator once?

I seem to remember hearing something like that, though the last truly working "random creature generator" that I remember was back in 40d where creatures were much simpler things to handle.

There was a random horse generator at one point. Not sure what happened to it.

I've used that, plus the drake generator, and as well the game itself generates random creatures.

Set compressed saves to no, open up world.dat with notepad ++(not regular notepad), and copy paste the creatures inside.  You can also edit the creatures to be more like what you want them to be.  I do recommend renaming the game-generated creatures, so that they don't conflict with your next world.

Maybe that the dwarves never died and everyone is just shunning them.
