The heck - I think the wrong fighter passed out here:

It's round 15, and Mistress Z is leading in endurance 5 to 1.

Round 16, and I get this message:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I definitely would like it if they'd rework the way endurance is handled. Make me slower? Weaker? More likely to take a hit? Sure; but just collapsing and immediately losing is... annoying.
Dev probably doesn't care.

It would be better of a fighter were to gradually become slower and less effective, forcing a fighter into inaction when endurance runs out and having it regen over time.

Right now there's really no way to play around with endurance asides from conserving it.
Should be able to order a fighter to rest in his fight strategy so you can set up ideal times to catch a breath.

But then to keep defensive fighters in the game the difference between being winded and still having a lot of energy should be magnified so defending becomes a matter of biding time for an oppertunist assault instead of outlasting.

Well time for Armok's next arena fight. First I'll try my luck at Ironjaw AGAIN.

*Grom Ironjaw brings his weapon crashing down on Armok with unbelievable force! (+332 Damage)
*Grom Ironjaw swings wildly (+512 Damage)

*Armok dies

FFFFFFFFFF

And Toady One, who has been a pansy ever since I got him, beats Ironjaw on the first try.

Kadjb actually beat him before he got a swing off. I was really impressed.

Velupes (A fighter who I believe is better than kadjb) still can't beat him however.

Edit: Scratch that, she disarmed him on the first hit and followed up with a massive (+500) hit.

Panzer is going to be a pain. He's a defensive fighter, just stands there and takes a beating. Kadjb can barely touch him

edit edit: VELUPES times a shot just right with her BLOODSTEEL BATTLE CHAIN.
VELUPES connects with her BLOODSTEEL BATTLE CHAIN creating monstrous wounds!  (+982 Damage)

Oh, oh dear

Armok actually managed to hold off an attacker clad in an odd mixture of purple, blue, and green stuff.
He got me an Underdog achievement

Yep Toady sucks. I want to take his shield away from him so he'll stop trying to fight with it, but he doesn't have another weapon yet

Wow... Endurance is incredibly annoying but i found a way to make it less dream shattering. Train stamina and strength, stamina increases endurance and strength increases how much a gladiator can carry, attributes don't count to your 100 skill increase maximum. Buy only the biggest slaves as they can carry more without getting encumbered. I know this may sound low buts its ideal to have a gladiator below 30% of their encumbrance.

This guy...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
He was pretty active up until he had 1 energy left. Then, he kept switching strategies, not using up any energy whatsoever, until my guy died.
I have my dude set to tank when he is very exhausted. This uses up very little, if any, energy. However, it causes him to be randomly damaged if he does it for long. This guy, "Ace of", bypasses this with strategy switching, it seems. That's really clever.
What strategy do you guys use?

I have Armok set to Killshot whoever he is fighting 2-3 times, then go crazy if they're still standing.
And killshot again as a last-ditch effort once he's exhausted.

How big is big though? Because I (once again) sold all my fighters in favor of larger ones. Currently I have one of size 67 and the other size 72. That said the last one needs to up his strength a lil bit more to propperly carry his armor.

I just hope I won't have even bigger slaves pop up next batch, about time I get my fighters to a respectable level  :)

As for strategy mine aren't really complex yet but I plan my war defensive fighter to initially tank activity 1 bloodlust 1, when opponent gets tired start parrying 1 1, and when nearing exhaustion to go all out until exhausted self with activity 4 bloodlust 6.
My theatrics has a steady stream of attacks to try and put some bleeds on activity 4 bloodlust 4, I plan for him to use signature move to create an opening and when the opponent then has a condition for him to go apeshit. To low level to actually try that out though.

Signature moves are ok, but a lot of the time you'll just use sweep.

Sweep is barreling attack without the damage. It sucks.

Edit: My fighters aren't very big. Kadjb is size 68 and Velupes is size 53

Size 53? Oof, that's kind of rough. I don't even look at gladiators if their size is under 70. Then stats in order of importance:
Stamina>Strength>Chi>Agility>Intelligence>Presence

It varies depending on your class, of course. Chi tends to be more important for 2H gladiators, while agility is more important for dual-wield or 1H gladiators.

Stamina tends to be less important at higher levels, since fights aren't likely to last for more than 2 minutes. (Another reason why trugs are godly at higher levels but suck at lower levels.)
