Well well well. I had Armok's activity level set to 1 and he stood there and got VERY injured by an apparently wealthy beastman. Then he does a 360 swing and caves in the beasman's skull, doing 149 damage and 1-hitting him. Holy shit.

Now I have him fighting Black Market matches, since they only cost a small amount of gold/energy. First attack of the first match resulted in Armok scoring a 168 damage hit. Then a 155 damage hit right after that. The damn Enforcer still saved the other guy, though.

Now the second match. EDIT: Unrivaled power helps drive the weapon into VOROG's lower thigh cracking bone and mangling flesh...it doesn't look good for VOROG!  (+217 Damage)
VOROG's life is spared as the Enforcer steps in and commands ARMOK to stop!

Now I'm going to challenge Razorback.
EDIT 2: RAZORBACK almost gets up onto his feet, but gets kicked back down!
ARMOK cautiously moves back and forth.
ARMOK brutally smashes RAZORBACK with his IRONWOOD BATTLE FLAIL.
ARMOK's IRONWOOD BATTLE FLAIL connects with RAZORBACK's lower arm creating gigantic wounds!  (+287 Damage)
RAZORBACK's ass is saved just in time to avoid certain death from ARMOK!
The fight lasted 55 seconds!

So... how am I doing representing Dwarf Fortress?
YEP ANOTHER EDIT: ARMOK leaps hurriedly to and fro.
ARMOK tries to cut into his adversary.
ARMOK's attack lands on WARMACHINEONE's upper arm causing towering injuries!
(+344 Damage)
WARMACHINEONE screams in agony as the strike causes him to drop his weapon!
WARMACHINEONE winces as he is knocked off balance and sent to the ground!
WARMACHINEONE falls to the ground with tears in his eyes and begs the mighty ARMOK to spare his impotent life!

Yes all of these battles in a row. I only stopped because in the next fight he just hit an even 200 before it was over.

I just realized the irony, Armok's name comes from the variable arm_ok in Dragslay, and most of these massive hits have been on the other guys' weapon arms.

If the flavor text is anything to be believed lower activity means they gamble on one big hit but basically are immune to being tired out. Good to see some confirmation.

I have a theatrics fighter who uses a knuckle duster and a shield, she's not getting big hits but she certainly is getting in lots of little ones.

The benefit of this, of course, is that crits happen more often.

What? He's firing from the hip.

Vaaurk, an Urk Theatrics gladiator is destroying on the Black Market. Passed you already, lionstar; your fighter Armok would cry for his life, if he were to fight against my warrior!

It's a generic browser-game, but kinda addicting. The fights are exciting, artwork is pretty nice too.

*big huge list of fancy crits*
O.o
Nice hits.

My gladiator's armed with a puny dagger and a shield heavier than the combined weight of the rest of his armor and his entire strategy revolves around parrying, blocking, tanking, and just generally getting beaten on until the other guy gets too tired to keep pounding my guy.

Now Armok is getting his ass beat in pit fights. I figured he could last long enough to get a crit, and then for the next 4 fights almost every single hit against him is orange or red doing 50-90 damage and causing massive bleeding damage. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??? Well he did get killed in a pit fight due to some bad (heavy) random equipment a few hours ago... is there still death sickness even if jimmy's mortician helps you out?

And vaaurk, I don't even know how to challenge you. Until I can I'll just assume Armok would one-hit you.

I think there is. There doesn't seem to be any way to avoid the sickness.

Well literally going through hell and back would be a pretty traumatic experience.

I think the mortician only reduces the strenght of the sickness, the duration is unchangeable.

Also, polearm weapons are good at lunging attacks right?

Because if not my dude has been doing stuff very wrong and very good for a while now X)

Any of you guys have multiple slaves yet?

If so, how are tactics handled, are they shared between them all (silly) or do you set them for each one?

I have space for an extra fighter (I dislike using the word "slave" for some reason :-[ ) but I've lost a lot of money reviving and healing injuries and repairing equipment. I'd have to sell Arrakis first, and that would be counter-productive.

EDIT: Also, does unlearning skills give you the training points back? I initially trained in blades, but I'm thinking of switching to exotic weapons.

I just got my second slave, named him Cacame. Made him the elfish race and gave him a big two handed warhammer. This might just be interesting.

EDIT:  Oh yeah, gave him the rage specialty as well.

Something about this game makes me wonder why God lets it exist.
Say, if you give birth on a ranch and then murder your baby will a corpse drop be guaranteed?

As far as I can tell, there's no point to unlearning something. At least, it isn't worth it if you aren't going to buy trophies.

Armok is picking back up in the pity pit fights

There is that challenge/avoid thing, basically makes your dude seek out specific gladiators in battle, not sure how exactly it works, or is it just a slightly higher chance to meet them :S
