Top of the Champion tier is being a real pain in the ass.

8th place... 4th place... 3rd... 6th... 3rd... 2nd... 5th... 3rd... 2nd... 4th... 5th...

Didn't help that I didn't notice the durability of my sword hit 0 on the last couple of fights (whoops.)

Tomorrow... tomorrow I will finally hit number 1!

In other news, Mistress Z (my first glad) has finally (finally) killed the Butcher. This puts her a good couple of weeks behind Madame X (my second glad), who's been stuck on Tiny Avenger for a while now.

It seems that this game has pretty much fallen off of Bay12's radar, but I feel the need to resurrect the thread just once more.

My gladiator, Mistress Z, managed to take down Ragnar-Three-Hits in a mere two blows and then killed him, just for an extra cherry-on-top.

Sadly, since I had to leave for work immediately after, I didn't get the chance to copy the exact battle text down, but it was something to the effect of:

Hit for ~150, knock down and serious injury.
Hit for ~600, damage increased by the injury.

He didn't even manage to get a shot off.

Given that Ragnar held up my other gladiator for at least a week, possibly closer to two, I was expecting this to be a gruelling battle.

That puts both Mistress Z and Madame X at Tiny Avenger. Madame X has been suck here for nearly a month now - it'd be funny if Z kills him on her first try too.

Events since my last post have gone well - Madame X actually managed to get to number 1 in the Champion tier by defeating some people who attacked her, then managed to get to number 1 in the Legendary tier not too long after that. The gladiators in the Pit Lord tier are rather evil though, and progress towards number 1 there has slowed considerably.

I've cooled on  this game. It's a fun idea, and the way they attempted to make it less pay-to-win endears me, but it's a huge time sink compared to other browser games. Two hours in the morning to run my arena fights and tavern quests and repair/upgrade equipment, another two hours later in the day to do the same things over again. You can pay trophies to run all tavern quests at once, but then you miss out on the best rewards.

So, I think I will retire from the gladiator management career. Take up something nice, like knitting.

I just stopped doing tavern runs. They are terribly boring.

Got bored for a moment and came back to Pit of War:

R O U N D  3
A loyal fan wastes no time in tossing a GREAT AXE into the arena for RAGETWOY to use!
RAGETWOY almost gets up onto his feet, but gets kicked back down!
>> ARMOK SWITCHES TO STRATEGY 3
ARMOK executes a horribly cruel crushing attack with his GIANT CHOPPER OF SPEED.
ARMOK looks to seriously damage RAGETWOY's armour!  (-Sunder Armour-)
An old injury is hit and magnifies the damage!
Wicked slash slices open RAGETWOY's chest...heart and lungs pureed, sickening!  (+3220 Damage)

And that is why you should immediately heal any serious injury above level 1.

I had forgotten why I started hating this game...

Then a rage glad with abilities way too strong for his level, geared in full purple, kills Armok.

Rage 2h still ripping everything up with minimal strats, easy-to-find-and-buy gear, etc. In Maximus, going to Primus (the final rank in the game) relatively soon. My dual-wielders are still lacking behind; for example, Cerebov has great stats, dual wielding broadswords. Winrate of ~65%. Mennas has eh stats, only one weapon to worry about, winrate of 88% (70 wins, 10 losses!).

It's overpowered all game, my friends ;D

As for Rage being OP, eh. Once I started getting good glads of all types, all I really notice is theatrics kind of sucks. Rages don't really get more kills, 2h'rs just get more kills and those are mostly rage glads using them. 2h War is pretty amazing, taking minimal damage and dealing huge punches in return. Doesn't save your ass from pay-to-win full purples, though.

I have made a new stable called Requital that is going to be dedicated to hunting down and generally giving hell to those full purples that steamroll everyone else in the lower ladders.

Of course my first gladiator, Penalty, started with horrible stats for a War glad. So I sold him and now have to wait for who knows how long for a slave with decent stats to show up in the market.

Maybe I'll just get the nicest one i can find right now and play around with strategies a bit. My stable record is going to suck.

Yeah, them rage 2Hs. I tried one myself good stats and all but it just didn't work for me, no idea why. Maybe there's a lot more significant hidden stats that come into play.

High STR, Size, and preferably Agi are good. I just set mine to 5/5 bash, buy green gear and maybe a blue weapon once every 10 levels, and I end up with 90% winrates and other hilarious scores. Don't use Berserk early on, it sucks until you're actually sacrificing your defense for a good boost.

It really isn't fun having one high level glad and 3 low level ones. I can't afford repairs, let alone new items.

Don't forget Chi. Tehsid had something like 81 Chi and his special maneuvers were almost always devastating. In fact, like 2/3rds of rage skills use Chi.
