Well, an alternative could be that if a gladiator gets exhausted, he drops down on the floor but doesn't instantly lose meaning that the other gladiator gets the chance to whack his head while the exhausted player can ''rest''.

I dont always work against a good offensive build. This new gladiator of mine is all offensive and I got my first kill after only my 10th fight or so. And I have gone up against some defense types which seemed good. I think its  a strategy that is most evidently effective in the lower levels.
