Weretortoise
« on: May 18, 2012, 01:43:35 pm »

So I was dwarfing around when one of my dorfs get attacked by a were beast... he then turned into a weretortoise.

Is this a good thing or should I kill it with fire? If its good what should I do with it?

Ultimate tank. Not very useful, but kudos if you manage to infect captured sentient hostiles with it. Hilarity will ensue.

It is the ultimate in dwarven medicine--when changed all wounds heal, severed limbs regrow, severed nerves start feeling again.  Keep him safe, when a precious soldier gets a bad wound and loses the ability to work (or worse) grasp, expose him to the lycanthrope.

Be careful. To heal the soldier you would have to expose the soldier to more danger. And not to mention that soldier would be out of his military career for as long as it's approaching a full moon.

So it seems people are dropping dead like elves in a dwarven fortress... I blame the tortoise.

As we speak the dwarves are getting mauled by a couple of werebeasts...

"Accidentally" didn't notice that. Sorry about that.

I'd blame the tortoise too.

So what does it take to pass on the lycanthropy?  Just a bite?

If so, my Marksdwarf squad just got a lot more Fun thanks to an attack by a wereraccoon who bit someone on the leg...

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.
I just hope he dies the same death that all dwarfs deserve: liver disease.

A bite that breaks the skin. Although someone else told me that it has to reach the muscle layer. I'd assume that it only has to be skin deep, just to be safe though.
If you're lucky, the bite your guy faced was blocked by his clothes and only caused bruising. That will not pass on the curse.

If your dwarf is a weretortoise, you know what you must do.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Make a squad of 4, infect them a well and hope a wererat comes along to lead them.

Bonus points if you make their barracks in the drainage system of your fort and make a cheese and beer delivery system.
