Butchery issue
« on: May 17, 2012, 10:00:36 am »

Hi,
My butchery have lot of stuff in it. I have 90 dwarf and 10-20 idle at least. I have free place on the stockpile, many empty barrels still the food is not hauled out from the butchery and start to rot. Then I ask them dump the rotten meat. They do, but still not hauling out the other stuff (even when there is no miasma), which start to rot soon. The butcher works normally, all hauling and order are standard. The butchery is very close to the food stock pile.
Could you please advise?

Did you turn off gathering of food in the Orders menu?

Is your butcher's shop outside?  If so, you'll need to turn on gathering of refuse from outside, also through the Orders menu.

how much other work is in progress, like mining, woodcutting, whatever? I've had food spoil because everyone was busy for a while and reached the butcher just a little too late

is it the non-food stuff like hides and bones that is rotting? you need a refuse stockpile for that.

Hi, Thanks for the responses I checked these. Food gathering is not off, butcher is inside. Everything worked well before. Well more butchering happened recently that is all, but I have 10-20% dwarfs or more idle. Refuse is removed from the butcher, the food stuff what is rotting. Still need advice.

Have you got any barrels reserved?  Sure you've got lots of spares?

Does sound odd if you've got lots of space in your food stockpile, lots of spare empty barrels, lots of idle dwarves with food hauling enabled...and they're just letting the meat rot in the butcher's shop.

You can always try removing the building and then rebuilding it...maybe something got a little glitched?

Is meat enabled in the stockpile?
