My dwarves are all idle, which leads to partying.

The miners won't dig any channels, or remove and up stairs/ramps.

All of my Gabbro, nor any of my other building material, doesn't show up in my building materials list; the only thing that shows up is wood.

This just randomly happened. My miners just stopped digging the channel and removing the up stairs/ramps, and then when I tried making a stone table the "Construction canceled: needs non economic rock to build"

Why are they doing this?

Nope, there's still ways to get out. I'm going along with capnduck's tutorials (if you care). Did EVERYTHING he did, they just for some reason stop.

Circled with white to show the unfinished removal (I know they aren't active, was trying to see if it was a glitch), and unfinished floor construction.



Inspecting the floor and it shows that there's a butt ton of Gabbro everywhere, blank spots were from where they grabbed it before.

sorry man, but you DID mess up some stairs or whatever somewhere. surface is unreachable to dwarfs, it seems. Don't say "I did what the tutorial said", say "I checked and double checked pathing"

obviously your miners and well, everyone are stuck where they can't get at any job. I'm not familiar with the graphics pack but I'll bet you a 100 dorfbucks

I bet another 100 that when you build below ground level you don't get the option to use wood

That was it! When I removed the up stairs/ramps I encompassed my stairs to the surface! Thanks SO MUCH.

Have only been playing for 2 days, so I'm still new to the pathing. You rock.
