That, and for Lucas (to post in OP).
I also wanted to fix up some tooltips (complaints of those :P) but I need more disk space. 18 GB sucks.

(*) Stopped salt from spreading to fresh water, made fresh water destroy stagnant water
So, if someone redirects a stream into the ocean, will it gradually become a fresh water ocean?

Q: could just a single pump turn the ocean into fresh water?
would it be able to revert back?

Edit:
A: No, looks like screw pumps don't clean the water any more.

Also: Genesis mod now in .09 goodness format. See the Genesis thread.

Most awesome... maybe too awesome?

work left a message, saying I may be under threat of firing...
the girlfriend and the wife stopped calling, with text messages coming from the landlord draining the cell phone battery now...
but I can't find release from this game... Why why why????
Ooo, the carts may work like I expect now.. should I just spend another 2 minutes on the forums and find out if...

oh, I'm doomed. saves might be compatible.... i may not need to restart... there goes the week again...
how do I reclaim my career?

BTW, has anyone checked CPU usage on multiple carts and routes? my pre-multi core CPU is sweating pretty good... might be the only way I escape this game..... I tweek by with 20 fps with only 10 mine cart routes along a handful of quantum stockpiles, but the 1 GB RAM and single core 2 point nothing GHZ CPU seems a bit hot...

edit: forgot.. 3x3 embark, 20-ish dorfs ( 12 legit, dang almost 8 children ), no caverns yet, but plenty of spooky undead moose and horses... no magma, one river... no nobles or gobbos yet... still early on.

Awesome.  I actually didn't get to play too much of .8 but during .7 I acquired some habit of making all my hallwayz 2-z tall.  The channeling thing hurting the miners never resulted in any deaths but I forsaw it becoming a problem in the future.  Especially when those big 2-z halls had to slope down a level or two.  I always had a hard time getting those looking right without the kind of channeling that would make the miners fall a level.  Happy to see it fixed before I had casualties :)

Anyway keep up the good work Toady.

edit:wait what is the ingame reason for fast travel? are you moving fast or are you warping?

Neither. It's just a way to abstract travel over long distances so the player doesn't have to spend nearly as much real-life time to move their character from A to B.
