[Clearly everybody was keeping tabs on that tower. Another good damn reason to continue with the fortress plans.

[Some confirmation one way or the other would be appreciated, as I have plans for whatever shadowy ninjas as well. If you remember, the one that had the mutually fatal fight with the cyber agents was sent by Thari's former apprentice.]

Eric, having been forcibly removed discharged from the hospital after completing the power plant designations, wandered into the meeting area for a break and said to Cog; "Guess what we're all having for dinner for the remainder of our lives?"

"Huh?"

Eric produced his meal, wrapped in quarry bush leaves;

This is a ☼pond turtle roast ♂☼, the ingredients are masturfully minced pond turtle, ♀, masterfully minced pond turtle, ♀, masterfully minced pond turtle, ♂, and masterfully minced pond turtle, ♂.

"There's like a billion of these things up there. Bloody chef went through the effort to inform everyone what gender of turtle each component came from. Didn't even know we had turtles around here, but apparently we didn't have anyone intersted in fishing, either. I usually hate any food that came from water-dwelling organisms, but these are ok, I guess. The other options were ☼crundle tallow bisquits [2]☼ and ☼chopped dingo liver roast [4]☼, with a side of ☼wild strawberry bisquits [5]☼. Guess the hunters have been a little enthusiastic about their jobs. Larder's stocked with meat, and lard. He wants it expanded so the veritable mountain of meat from local wildlife in the butcher's shop doesn't go bad."

"What? Didn't take the ☼crundle tallow bisquits☼? Maybe I should go get some."

"They're nothing but fat. They aren't bisquits, either, just like a big tub of lard from various animals, but the cook once again insists on differentiating between which layer of the barrel came from which species and gender, and insists he minced it. Minced lard, can you believe that? Have to bring your own ladle and bowl, too. We need more bowls and such..."

"Sounds good to me!" With that, Cog ran to the food stockpiles with a ☼large gabbro pot☼, filled it to the brim from the lard barrel, and hauled it off to his room.

There's GOT to be a secret to eating nothing but lard, Eric thought.

Weird shook his head; a sign of spiritual defeat.

Why is it that nobody listened to him about magic invented by crazy people? Did nobody pay attention to what had just happened earlier that very day!?

"Come on in.." he sighed, throwing the door wide open for hugo to attempt to squeeze through. "I don't habe much in the way of furnishings, and watch where your tail goes. Knock stuff over and we could be gassed to death.  I don't have a proper place to be doing this yet ya know."

With effort, hugo grabbed his tail and pulled it up underneath his body and held it fast in his mouth, while navigating the door. It took him a fair amount of time to squeeze in, turn around, and settle on the floor facing the door way. Weird shut the door as the dragon had asked, then locked it.

"Now. About those books..."

Out of 20 total cyber troopers created,
Killcount (approximate, really not sure.)
Corai: 3, 1 stabbed and 2 shot.
Zanz.: 5 in a flash
Splint: 1 piked
Ironblood: Several
Vemini: Several. One punched through the chest, hard enough to make his fist hurt a lot.
Eric: 1 pickaxed, probably more as well.
You forgot the two I killed by pulling one over the railing, and having it impact on it's comrade's head when I was shouting at Eric and hanging from the catwalk.

"Okay weird, close the door. I don't want anyone to overhear. During that business at the tower, when I was without a physical presence, I managed through secret means to get a few of the books Thari had written back to the fort. Namely, books detailing the secrets of grafting, hybridisation, various herbal and magical healing techniques, and true resurrection. I had wanted to look into them for research purposes, and hide them from you since I feared you would destroy them. But now I believe that you are the only one who I can trust with this information."

Don't trust me?  Well, I would burn them when you mentioned them, so it is valid.

[Clearly everybody was keeping tabs on that tower. Another good damn reason to continue with the fortress plans.]

I keep tabs on it due to the refugees that are there.  I'll upload a new map when I get home.  All I can say is that the dragon civ is on the move, and preparing to attack.  Remember:  I'M NOT THE GRAND EMPEROR ANYMORE!

Oliolli woke up. He hadn't been out for very long it seemed, but long enough to have been tied up and dragged for a kilometer or two. The figures who had captured him were also dragging two of their own. One whimpering with bloodstained cloth around his chest, the other entirely covered in cloth, blood in the facial area, apparently dead. The apparent leader was carrying his weapons. Oliolli tried to struggle, but whoever had tied him up had been good with ropes. One of the figures carrying him, noticing his struggles simply said
"Don't struggle, it'll be easier for all of us."
It was the only thing they said directly to him during the journey.

All I can say is that the dragon civ is on the move, and preparing to attack. Remember:  I'M NOT THE GRAND EMPEROR ANYMORE!

Doesn't matter that you're no longer the Grand Emperor, if the dragons attack us no-one will trust dragons (except Hugo) or you anymore...

HugoLuman released his tail from his mouth, and leaned against the wall to reduce his presence in the room. Ever so carefully he avoided bumping the table.
"I believe that though Thari was crazy, there might be perfectly salvageable and useful knowledge somewhere in her books. You saw that green goop. It fixed injuries almost ludicrously effectively. We could use something like that. However, given what we know about everything connected with her, just letting everyone see the books would be a bad idea. I know that I can trust you and you alone to be able to help look through them and not to misuse anything you find out.
"I also believe that, for responsible people at least, the ones I found should be safe to look at. When I existed only on the astral plane I had a sense for magical energy. Divine slabs have glyphs on them that are capable of burning knowledge into one's mind should they look at them with intent to read them. I could detect no such glyphs within these books, so they must be compilations of arcane and scientific notes and not divine knowledge."

Far, far away, a group of shrouded figures met with a band of goblins outside of an obsidian fortress. One of the goblins brought forth a wheeled cage. It was full of bound and gagged small figures; children. "We've rounded them up like you've asked. Taken from different towns to make tracking harder. Where is the gold?"

One of the black-clothed figures tossed a good-sized, satisfyingly heavy sack at the goblin's feet. "Here is the payment, as promised. You will make no attempts to follow us." It was said with full expectation that they would obey.

"Of course not. Where are you taking them, though?"

"It is none of your concern."

The former Apprentice looked over the children that had just been brought to his island. More came in every week. He had already a large force of trained adults, but after a decade of training these fresh students his army would be truly great. Even now, though, he was almost ready to put his plans into action.

Gizogin directed the dwarves (and Corai) to continue sealing the doors to the dining hall, then set out to find his target.  He still hadn't taken off his hazmat suit, due to the vial of dust he was carrying with him.  It was completely airtight, he knew, but he still wasn't taking any chances.  Before going back through the decontamination chamber, he had shaken some of the fluffball powder from his suit into the vial, and wanted to find out what it was made of.  Only one person he knew could do that.

Gizogin knocked on the door to wierd's lab.
"You in there, wierd?  I have something here, and I need you to take a look at it!" he called.

[Hey, wierd is the best chemist in this place.  If I want to stop the fluffballs, I need to know what I'm up against.  Also, is it "wierd" (username) or "weird" (word)?  Capitalized or not?]

WHEN they attack, I am going to fight with the fort, and probably cause a revolution against the masters.

Zanzetkuken approached Eric Blank in the dining room.

"I need to speak to you.  There is some knowledge that you need to know about something that is coming."

[I before E, when dealing with ME. E before I when its some other guy. I misspell the word on purpose, as a kind of meta-comment about myself. Sadly, my phone's spell checker in the input method box likes to silently correct my purposeful misspellings.  As for identifying a mystery substance... the 'lab' I have set up has more in common with a methlab than it does a proper analytical chemistry setup.  Its thrown together and dangerous, and lacking nearly all the right reagents.  That's what wierd is up to right now: cooking up raw materials and reagents from common stronghold items. ...that and hastily building a new hazard suit.]
