Lets face it. A bunch of small zombies would, at best, be able to immobilize but not seriously damage steel-plated cyborgs. Also, the last 5 or 10 cyborgs produced (being made in batches of 5) had arm-mounted chainsaws.

Well, that's what I get for doing wet chemistry science at home over the weekend instead of watching the thread.

(Made a workable process for airbrushing tshirts with cheap rit fabric dye and having it stick though.)

-Come on man, you gotta admit that thats better then this thread.

But it wasn't "just a few"....

It was the whole "dead count" from bay bold, plust about 100 or so zombie cats.

Sure... some of them were burned real good putting out fires.. (zombies aren't the brightest...).. but sending all those into a confined space with orders to "subdue with overpowering numbers" means lots of zombie munchkins grabbing hold of every inch of cyberdwarf they could latch on to, and not letting go, while others wail away beating on them.

(See asian hornet attacked by asian bees. They all cling to the enormous hornet's body and shake themselves to generate heat, and cook the hornet to death.)

Corai:

Getting a cheap t-shirt process going is no small accomplishment. Have you ever priced t-shirt stuff? Shit's like 4$ for 2 oz of paint.  Rit? 4$ for 8oz of super concentrate. (Enough for a 5 gallon bucket of colorant.)

Sure, the process I came up with is labor intensive, what with the wet process, and foil pressing barriers and all... (talking an hour just doing the heat set, then several more doing the controlled rinse-out) but it works well enough to get deep saturated colors to stick.  Rit is extraordinarily poorly rated for doing tshirts because its so hard to get to set with deep color. (But I iz de smartz!)

I need to get more colors and do more experiments to try to refine the process so its easier.

-To be honest, those zombies could had taken out most of the cyborgs when you think about it, cause Eric's was batbold, blinding and shredding that cyborg.

Now make 70 of those kobolds. Give 40 of them copper armor, etc etc etc...-

I didn't say "A few," I said many small zombies. Cats and kobolds don't have much weight to throw around, and the corpses weren't in the best condition. Being made of bone and necrotized flesh, they would have a hard time getting through steel plating that can deflect small arms fire. The best they could have done is hold them immobile for someone else to deliver the killing blow. Presumably, this actually did happen, as though the zombies were being literally beaten to a pulp at first, the cyborgs eventually lost, and they lost hard.

Presumably the one Eric's kobold disabled was one of the batch with crappy plating.

I start synthesizing the Cyber Rot virus solution. Hopefully, there will be enough of it for everyone to coat their crossbow bolts and blades with. As long as I don't get interrupted in my lab, everything will turn out fine.

I'm fine with them failing miserably agains killing machines. Bone *IS* fragile and all.

That's why I asked if all they did was clutter the hall and impede the rate of cyber conversion and cyberdwarf mobility in the hallway.  If for no other reason, they could have been instrumrntal just being a damned nuisance. :D

So, I get a few "honorable mentions" for assisting. :D

Yeah, about your lab... It might be in a state of moderate disrepair. At the bottom of a hole.

Just have to have Cog dig out a new one. :P

Corai wandered the halls, there were dieing dwarves and metal everywhere.

"Dang, I REALLY hope no forumites got screwed in this..." The kobold said to a dead cyborg, slumped against a wall.

"Thanks buddy!"

...

"Methinks I'll find one of them. I still got to get Joykill for that trick he played awhile back. But that can wait. First I gotta put down the last of these zombiebolds, put there souls to rest already." He said. "Now where the hell have they gone..."

-Dont worry Joykill, I wont be bugging you for awhile. Im more likely to bug Mrhappyface/Splint/Hugo.-

[Who wants to become part of my quest to put down the fluffballs?  They're completely unkillable (Completely.  Progenitus has nothing on these.), but they can be contained.  Kind of like they are right now, actually.  The goal is to seal them away, hopefully forever.  I don't have the rest of this story planned yet, so anything could happen.]

[Well, go right ahead.  The fluffballs are currently quarantined in the new, unfinished dining hall, which is now on fire.  I doubt it'll keep them contained for longer than another day.  I'm signing off for tonight pretty soon, though, so you'll have to start without me.  I know you're familiar with what my fluffballs can do, so be careful.]

[In terms of catastrophes, this is probably on the lighter end for damages compared to other ones. Only about 50 deaths, the injured have all been hospitalized. Someone will have to clean up the zombie remains, though.]

HugoLuman stood up. Upon doing so, he felt something very painful under his left foreleg, and looking he found that a patch of scales had been removed from the crux of the limb and chest, a very inconspicuous place for anyone looking at him. It left a raw and very sensitive patch that made it sting to walk. Despite this, though, he decided he would ask one of Gizogin if he could be discharged yet. He was suspicious of the doctor, though, as he would be one of the prime suspects for this sample taking.

I say we should obsidianize the fluffballs, and encase them in adamantine. Can't be too careful. Also, don't want them getting out so soon, we need a few weeks (in story) to recover from recent events.

Weird didn't care about proper protocols anymore.  Half the damned fortress was dead, and crazy batshit science projects were to blame. Again.

He wasn't gonna have any of it.

He'd finally finished sewing up the glass fiber support layers for his new suit, and now he was on a madcap mission, practically ransacking the deserted stockpiles and workshops gathering the materials he needed.

He decided that melting down the cyberdwarves for metal ingots was a good way to get some of the materials he needed, and it helped kill the time, and hearing somebody working in the craftsdwarf's hall seemed to be thereputic to the survivors.  Weird didn't have any real acquaintences in the fortress, being a hoplessly independent type without emotional hangups, though some part of him wondered how that recalcitrant ass Athel was handling being in a full synthetic body. He'd have to find out later.

Metal scraps sizzled and melted inonce crucible, sintered into refined metal oxide in a calcination furnace, and baked into hard ceramic plates in a third, as he assembly lined the manufacture of the plates he needed.

It was slow work, but he was driven.  He'd work until he collapsed from exhaustion, then get up and work some more.  He wouldn't stop working until he had cobbled together defenses against every scrap of technology in the fortress, including his own.

Another episode like this wouldn't happen again.

No. It certainly wouldn't.

[Well, it looks like we'll be introducing a new character: Bomrek Asobod the ghostly FUCKING MORON, a forlorn haunt unwilling to move form her place of death, who burned to death in the brush fire because she was a FUCKING MORON.

As it turns out, I based the fire thing on what was going on in my fort while building the massive tower of cast obsidian. This moron was a battlemage and succeeded in setting the entire goddamn embark on fire. I had absolutely no idea what caused the fire at the time, so I went with "Goddamn miner blew up the magma pumps and the magma bombs set everything on fire." It started in one long strip adjacent to the workshops on the surface, and encompassed absolutely everything. There was no stopping it, so the dwarves just hung out in the fort while it burned out. Of course there was no surface access for the magma yet.

Later on, she started another fire while hunting dingos, and I managed to catch her in the act. Of burning to death. Before she died I changed her profession from "Ranger Captain" to "FUCKING MORON." Again, I just let the fire burn itself out. The second go-round was well after I posted about the fire, and now she haunts the woods to the North-East, wailing about how stupid she had been for running into the blaze to return a dingo corpse she'd killed. Her body and the dingo's were both destroyed, but we recovered the crossbow and bolts so that's all good!

Should we hold a ceremony for the one poor soul idiot that burned to death in the fire?]
