@ Splint: I think so. Most imminent threats seem to have been killed with extreme prejudice for now. I'm with a few of us cleaning up the remaining freaky insects.

The scorpion elf considered shortly. "Very well. I'll accept this power thing, if I can use it to keep my people safe."

After days of being locked in his room, to avoid horrible virii, giant psychedelic bugs, and general mayhem, Splint stuck his head out for the first time in days. He'd run out of cola. "Anyone home?" He called down the hall. Nothing. "Where the hell is everyone?"

Mrhappyface resends order for the supersoldiers to return and slaughter the centipedes. The dragon can wait, we'd have to remove immediate threats.
Mrhappyface throw Splint some of my leftover dwarfacola from the fridge.
"Hey man, you've been missing all the fun. By the way, want some augmentations?"

"This power is great, but what of the side affects? Nothing is without side affects, does this bind us to some book that we must protect, for example? Or is it a free-to-go no side-effects thing?" he said flatly.

"And what IS this? Shapeshifting?"

"Hey man. Thanks for the drink. And Augments? No. I like the crap i was born with. But if you could straighten out my pike, that'd be great." Splint holds up a copper pike, the shaft caked in grim and mud, the bottom coated in a huge lump of dirt, and the blade covered in dried blood. Its shaft was bent near the head at  15 degree angle, and near the middle 20. How he'd managed to kill anything with his weapon in such a state of disrepair was anyone's guess.

@ Corai: Some kind of inter-dimensional teleporting, I think.

The group finally reached the bottom of the canyon, just as the sky was lightening. The sun would rise soon. In the distance of the tunnel they could hear scuttling and crawling, not too far off. "I just... need a moment here," said HugoLuman. Climbing down 300 feet had really shaken him, what with his life-long fear of heights.

Eric, back in the tower, finished reading the tablet offering the secrets of Life and Death. No idea why Wierd always got so worked up about it. it's not like goddesses were that much harder to please. But with this power, whatever the contract demanded, he at least would have another failsafe to keep things running smoothly. Especially important in Wierd's absence, which had been the case for the last couple days. Now it was just a matter of keeping the centipede population at a minimum and continuing his work on the fortress proper. The pair he had stolen had been told to take a break, and was spending their time courting and searching for rats. He had ordered them to flee from anytihng walking on two legs witohut defending themselves, and to return to him. Their psychadelic lightshow never seemed to end, but examining their heads revealed no eyes or even light receptors. They likely only could tell the time of day in relation to temperature. Worryingly, the enormous 500-foot centipede that he'd seen devouring goblins wasn't present in the chasm, and was likely stalking the countryside, perhaps laying eggs wherever she found a cavern large enough to fit herself into, assuming it were female and not a massive bull mating with the millions of other centipedes around it. Arthropods were often matriarchal, though, so that was unlikely. It would have to be dealt later either way.

The important thing now was returning to the fort and seeing if Cog knew of anything interesting happening while he was busy.

"While you are able to travel across planes, the area in between will kill you if you remain in there for too long.  There are places out there, where beings will not hesitate to kill you.  Other than that, there are no side-effects.  Before an event known as 'the mending' planeswalkers used to be immortal, survive eternally within the blind eternities, and be near invincible, but that time was many years ago.  Now it seems there are no side-effects besides having to defend your plane from destruction.  That plane may change, depending on if you adopt a new homeworld, but I will not get into that.  What it is, is the ability to morph mana, and planeswalk.  I shall demonstrate the morphing of mana."

Zanzetkuken stood up, turned the other way, and focused.  Around his right arm, energy surged.  Soon, two orbs, one blue and one white came around his arm they circled and combined at the tip of his hand, and he threw the combined orb at the ground a few yards in front of him.  There was a circle of energy that came from that point, and an owl shot upward.  It dispersed as Zanzetkuken recalled the mana, and he added 3 more to it.  He launched the orb again, and a phantasmal beast leapt out instead.  He recalled the mana and allowed all but one red to disperse which he shot at the ground.  Lightning lept out of the sky and slammed into that point.  Zanzetkuken then called three more mana to him, and cast it again.  This time, a talisman appeared.  Zanzetkuken then dispersed the mana, and asked, "Does that answer your question?"

The chittering sounded like it was coming... closer. They had been following it down the tunnel, but now it seemed that it was turning around. Oliolli squinted, holding the torch forward. "Looks like there's one coming up with 8-foot feelers. Damnit, do we have to fight 3 gargantuan bugs in 24 hours!?"

"Well," said HugoLuman, "technically one giant octopus, one arachnid, and a bug. Point taken though."

"This does sound wonderful, but I deny this. I am already, if painfully, immortal. Oh god the respawning it hurts..." Corai said, he then shook off his trance and continued.

"That elf may want it, but I am good with my status right now. Now unchain me if you will."

Poor scorpion-elf (he may need a name). He's pretty confused about this, but goes along anyway, seeing as it may benefit the others.

Zanzetkuken nodded.  "I may as well mention this now, but by utilizing this power, your life increases twenty-fold.  What I mean by that is that everything is assigned a damage value.  A sword can be a 2-3, and you would survive unless you had less than that amount of life.  There are some spells that increase your life.  In effect, you would need to respawn less.  What do you say to that?  Don't worry, I am not trying to tempt you into anything, just have you make an informed decision."
