"Corai... you're welcome..." Reudh barely managed to get this out when Ironblood shouted at him.

Reudh cowered against the wall, and flinched as he heard the words. "They'd stone ye where I came from!" Or worse, forced ejection...

But something made him stand up.

"With respect, sir... I think survival should take priority over these stuffy old rules. It's not as if that art hurts anybody," Reudh told Ironblood.
He of course conveniently forgot that it does, and that is why he is here.

Oliolli, if you get to the top room, secure those books. Don't read them though; they contain evil knowledge.

Oliolli did visit that room, but he was too distracted by other things, namely the secret floors at the top that couldn't be reached.

I approve of this.

Hang on, knowledge can't be evil.  It can be used for evil, but knowledge itself has no morality.

Of course, DF works differently to reality, so maybe the rules are different.  Like how in Discworld, libraries have weird geometry and become akin to black holes (knowledge=power=energy=mass [E=mc2; energy -> mass], and mass bends space-time).

All I know is that if someone were tempted to use the knowledge, it would be very bad if they did.

Mind you, if we could look through it scientifically and objectively, there may be pieces of knowledge we could appropriate for good purposes.

"Well, on one hand we have a mess of fancy and easilt broken stone coats. On the other the kobolds don't have to die of soffocation. I'd call this a win." Splint said, heading back to his room after checking the remaining kobolds to make sure they were still breathing.

Ironblood followed Reudh. "Just be careful, lad. Back in Nist Akath, there were many times when people panicked, thinkin' that someone was doing 'masn'ry.' Don't do it a'front'f that trader from the mountain home."

Step away from the box Corai, there are no shinies in there. Only death.

"Box? What box?" Corai said, oblivious to the death-box Freeble had brought.

Oliolli had searched all the outer walls and the roof for entry into the top floors. None were found, so Oliolli decided to improvise. Standing on the roof, he raised the slade warhammer high above his head and brought it down with all his strength. The roof collapsed under him, but luckily the drop wasn't very bad. After clearing his head, he began looking around. Most of the rooms he entered were empty, except for the last room. In it was a statue. A statue of an indescribable horror with centipedes crawling all over it. Around it on the floor were lit candles. The others would have to see this. Leaving the room with the statue, he noticed a stairwell leading down that he hadn't taken previously. Oliolli decided to check it as well.
--
The stairwell hadn't connected to any other part of the tower. Instead it took Oliolli underground, and to the mouth of a rough-dug tunnel. Oliolli followed it, despite the smell.
--
The tunnel went on and on and on. Miles, dozens of miles, also taking Oliolli deeper into the ground as he walked. Finally he arrived at what seemed like the end of the tunnel. An opening to a large cavern, the smell of which would have killed an elf. The cavern was full of eggs. One of the eggs was hatching. Oliolli hoped wierd were here as well. The others would have to know of this. Oliolli left, returning through the tunnel.
--
So you're sure this is the spot?
Yeah. Behind this wall is the tower's dining hall.
Oliolli was standing in the secret stairway. Raising the hammer again, he started pounding on the wall to the dining hall. It didn't take long for the wall to break down.

The adamantine wafer that Corai got from Mrhappyface fell out from his Armani pants pocket. Freeble, the little fool, picked it up and with a little leverage, sliced open and broke the seal of the biohazard container. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Eric was disappointed that while designating plans for the indoor fishery/water cistern cutoff, there was a boulder that needed moved and he wasn't invited.

So he walked outside and admired the brand-new boringness of the deforested forest. Not that it was particularly bad with lots of stumps to use as stools, but that there was literally nothing to see or do besides. This is why he liked to stay indoors most of the time; at least there were rocks to break and caverns to admire. Soon, there would be a section of caverns collapsing. Unfortunately it wasn't the tower. No, that would have been too much fun, so the others told him not to go ahead with that plan. They're no fun...

All he needed was a chance to check that the plan would generally work, and to get digging.
