[Are there going to be any lasting consequences to this, other than a new feeling of inner peace, and loss of fear of death? Nir should still exist, just back as her original self. He *DID* bargain his lost concience back, and her actions are probably getting her a nice little trial in the astral plane, but does weird win the "winner take all" clause of his contract by making her default, and gain free and unrestricted necromancy with his concience returned?]

Gizogin staggered outside.  The sky was dark with clouds, and all around were falling rain and... eels?  He made a mad dash for the tank, where Gizo X had left it the last time he'd gone down to the river.  Only when his hand was on the door handle did he turn around and look at the tower.  Gizo X was halfway to the tank, walking backwards and shooting tiny, supersonic ice missiles at any infected who showed their faces.  "Hurry up!" Gizogin yelled, but X kept his pace steady.

"Start the tank!" X yelled over his shoulder at Gizogin.  Gizogin yanked the door open, hopped into the driver's seat, and blanked.  He had never actually driven the tank before, and in all the excitement, he'd completely forgotten the controls.
Okay, he told himself, you can do this.  You built this thing, you can figure out how to drive it.

Gizo X was running out of magic.  That ring of fire had taken a lot out of him, and he doubted he'd be able to hold off the infected if they all attacked at once.  He was almost at the tank now, all he had to do was keep the infected at bay for another minute, and he'd be in the clear.  Behind him, he heard the tank's massive reactor starting up.  He fired off one last ice bolt as a warning, then turned and bolted the last few feet to the tank.

@Weird: [Well, now that I think about it, you did learn the actual, fundamental secrets of life and death. You know exactly how the reanimation works now, so you can do it without divine help. Having taken back the missing parts of you, and restored the balance, you've made Nir forget about you. As long as you use your gift in moderation, the universe probably wouldn't notice. For long term ramifications, well, there is that cryptic message. Whatever it means, you cannot escape it.]

[The force that brought them here may be defeated, but we've still got an infectious nano-plague on our hands! That eliminates the overpoweredness while still presenting us with a challenge. And we can resolve it.]

HugoLuman dodged the infected, shoving them out of the way with sweeps of his tail. He sprinted to where Wierd had alighted, pain in the leg be damned! Upon reaching his comrade, HugoLuman was taken about. Wierd had the most serene, calm expression that could ever be possible on his face. "What the hell just happened to you?" demanded HugoLuman. "Every fiber of my being was just screaming to me that serious shit going down!"

Weird smiled.

"I beat death." He laughed. "And it wanted me to."

He looked at the glove on his hand. The glyphs were all... different.. now. The ones he had invented were still there, but the others....

He thought, and the memory of the old glyphs faded before he could catch them. But he knew what these were. They were the real markers of death, only reflected by his own impression of what death was.  The crystal in the center wasn't black anymore. It didn't have any color.

He was confused. Curiously, he engaged it... a sweet, serene sound drifted just outside his perception, but the crystal rang with the lulliby call, then filled with light as the core charged.

How strange....... but it was beautiful. Death had been slain by hope and comfort.

[It is my understanding that weird shattered "super-Nir", by inventing a new concept of death. A non-sentient pseudo-divinity without a name, just aspects. His necromancy will reflect that change.]

HugoLuman, through his draconic senses, could feel the power within the gloves. From his bond with Wierd, he could feel a sense of what the power was. It would need a source of magic to work its full power, though. And here he was, with the body of a potently magical creature "Wierd, if we combined our strength, I think we could pacify all the infected for a while. Maybe also make the downed ones stay downed."

He smiled.

He didn't really consider himself *that* good of a singer...

He listened to the sweet music ringing in the back of his mind, reverberating of his own soul, and realized that *he* was the sounding board.

He took a deep breath, and drew in the music, opened his mouth, and let it out.

It sounded like silence to the living... but not so to the dead, and near-death.

"Watch where you're going!"

"I'm doing my best here!  I've never driven a tank before, especially not one with foot-based steering!  Whose idea was that, anyway?"

"Yours!"

The two Gizogins roared up to Hugo and wierd in their tank.  Gizogin slammed the tank into a sideways skid, nearly rolling the whole thing, but it settled and came to a stop not too far from Hugo.  "Next time, I'll drive," said Gizo X.

Both Gizogins stepped out of the tank and jumped to the ground.  Gizogin landed on all fours, and fell over when he tried to get to his feet.  Gizo X walked around the tank and helped Gizogin up, and they both walked over to the dragon and the necromancer.

"What the..." sputtered Gizogin.

Multicolored light glowed gently from the eyes of Wierd and HugoLuman, changing hue in time with the music that only they could hear.

[Note, the siren song is different for everyone who hears it. Imagine the most profound musical emotional experience you have ever experienced. Its like that. It is the most beautiful sound that can ever be experienced. It is the very essence of comfort, forgiveness, safety, and hope. It banishes the fear of death.]

All this was far too much for Gizogin.  He decided he'd be much better off after a nap, and promptly collapsed, unconscious.  Gizo X set him down gently on the damp grass, and turned to the two lightly-glowing figures.

didn't you say the living couldn't hear it?]

[That's right. The living can't. Its meant for the dead and dying. The living don't need to hear it.

It eases passing, and pacifies the undead. It makes then docile and harmless.

If the living *could* hear it, it would kill them. Their souls would follow it out of this world and into the next. The song of death is obscenely powerful. Be thankful you can't hear it.]

The phyrexis afflicted dwarves stood still. Motionless. One by one, they dropped their weapons and wandered outside, forming a circle around the two glowing figures. Tears of black oil ran down their faces, but they were smiling.

The undead that had risen earlier gasped, reached up to the sky, and the unlife that was in them left in faintly luminous clouds.

Everywhere was silence. Just the chirpings of the crickets, and the croakings of the frogs.

It was silent.

[The infected aren't undead, but it would still affect them because their souls think they are dying. The ones that have been beaten down will go inert instead of reconstructing. Perhaps they might reconstruct after we stop playing the music, but that's up to Wierd story-wise. Right now would be the time for everyone else to act, since we're kind of holding them off in a way.]

Gizo X peered uneasily at the gathered dwarves.  He wouldn't be able to fight them all, if it came to that.  He moved slowly, positioning himself between the nearest of the dwarves and Gizogin's limp form.  "Wierd, I hope you know what you're doing," he mumbled to himself.
