"Of course. Emergency temporal shift. They must have built 5 or so leader units, and since they were so important they had that feature built in. What else could it be?"

Wierd looked around, and at the ground wearily, and as if it were made of venomous vipers.

"Ohhhhhkaaaayyy....... If anybody finds adamantine, DONT DIG IT."

[One of the interesting things about a timelock, is that it causes the inhabitants to repeat time FOREVER, unless unplugged. It is entirely possible the millions of years could have passed with us inside the big time bubble made by Clockwork hugo's temporal engine.]

"........And.... If this is what I think it is..." Wierd pointed at the whole wall. "...Doesnt it's very existence pose a significant problem concerning paradoxes? This is like, the ultimate spoiler. We never should have read it."

[My alter ego's bubble encased the entire universe. Everyone inside experienced the same time. Normally this would have no effect, but it prevented anyone from outside this universe from getting in. That is what it was designed for.]

"It doesn't seem to show anything after us reading it on it. And they didn't seem to know too much about our time. But according to this, there was a tower that didn't get destroyed, only sacked. The minute details of the tower that those tall figures made doesn't indicate brickwork, so it can't be Thari's tower. Maybe it's still somewhere nearby?"

"You know, I probably spent decades in hell and the third cavern."
"When we appeared to this time and place, we thought we had travalled back in time. Funny how that turned out."
"Hold on a second..."
Oliolli raised the ☼adamantine short sword☼ and looked at it for a moment.
"I'm scared..."
"I got this really spooky feeling just here..."

They spent about an hour looking around the rest of the ruins. There didn't seem to be anything else there, aside from the incredibly creepy statues that were lying on the floor. Only they weren't statues. Humanoid forms encased in ash, turned to stone with the ages. Weird could not detect them as corpses, for they were completely fossilized. The search for hostiles made them feel safer, though, as the ruin didn't seem to hold anything capable of movement. Still, the emptiness was eerie.

I'm going to sleep, IRL and in story. This would better be handled tomorrow (or in about 8 hours in my IRL case.)

His meal finished, Gizogin made his way to the hospital.  On the way, he ran into Cog Wrathhammer, decked out in all his armor and his considerable array of weaponry.  "Heading out already?" he asked the dwarf.
"Yup.  The other you just checked me out." Cog replied.
"Well, good luck.  I'm sure the other me gave you some instructions, so make sure you follow them.  And if you're ever in the area, look us up."
"Will do.  Goodbye."

Continuing on, Gizogin entered the hospital, which was almost completely empty.  The beds were all unoccupied, and the G-Bodies were busy cleaning and restocking.  Gizo X was standing next to Cog's old bed, flipping through Cog's clipboard and making notes.  Gizogin walked over to meet him.

Gizo X looked Gizogin up and down, and said, "Well, it's about time.  Where have you been?"
"Hey, it's good to see you too.  I'm fine, thanks for asking."
They both laughed and embraced.  It had been quite a while since they'd seen each other, and they had been more worried than either would admit.
"Come on," said Gizo X.  "I want to show you something."

I think it reduced the speed of time at the old fort, and sped it up everywhere else, because I was outside of the time-lock, and only 15 years went by.  If anything seems strange during or after the final battle, remember, unlike you people, my character is used to this world.

When MrHappyFace bailed us out with the time cart, he accidentally took us 10 to 20 years forwards. The time of one universe wouldn't really affect the time of another, it's just that sometimes this means that universes go at different rates from each other.

"Wow.  You've been busy," Gizogin said.  He picked up a blueprint at random from a cluttered workbench.  "What am I looking at here?  It looks like one of your shoulder joints, but what's this bit here?  It wasn't in my original design."

"Well, no, I added it," Gizo X responded.  "I had to make some adjustments, keep myself running well, that sort of thing.  Anyway, that's not what I wanted to show you."  He gestured to the large piece of machinery taking up a large portion of the floor space.  "Take a look at this."

"This is the machine you were telling me about?  It's a bloody tank!"

It was indeed.  Well, almost.  It had caterpillar tracks and metal plates, but it looked different to any tank Gizogin had ever seen.  It was slimmer, more streamlined.  The body, at least as much as was finished, was oddly angled.  At the back, where the metal plates had not been attached, Gizogin could see the unmistakable shape of one of his reactors, only much larger in scale.  It was connected to a considerable array of controls in the front of the vehicle, all complicated-looking levers, buttons, and knobs.

[I'll finish this up in a bit, after I've eaten.]

[Please tell me you haven't assembled a doomsday weapon in 2 days :(
Or maybe it's just a large mobile magic reserve?]

[Well, it's actually been in the works for a while.  I think.  I don't really have a good read on how fast time moves in this.  Gizo X started working on it before the siege, and he never gets tired or anything, so he can work pretty fast.  Even so, it's only half-done.  Only the chassis, the frame, and the reactor are done.

It's really more of a one- or two-person transport, with room for a moderate amount of cargo.  It's meant to be able to travel almost anywhere, except underwater and through volcanoes and stuff.  It's not as big as any modern tank, probably on the scale of a Hummer or something.  It doesn't actually have any weaponry.]

"How much have you actually done, then?" Gizogin asked of his doppelganger.  "It looks like just the bones."

"Yeah," Gizo X replied.  "I've been working on it for a while now, and I've done the chassis and the frame.  I trust you noticed the reactor; it's considerably larger than any you or I have done before.  I've run the numbers, of course, and it'll hold up nicely."  Gizo X noticed that Gizogin was looking at it with an odd expression.  "What's the matter?"

"Oh, nothing.  It's just that, when you first described it to me, it didn't sound quite so... big."  At this point, Gizogin noticed the magical charging station, tucked away in the far corner of the shop.  It had just finished charging its reserves, and was beginning to glow with magical discharge.  "What's that?" he asked.

"What, that?" Gizo X replied.  "I've been doing some experiments of a more... magical nature.  That's just a way to gather magical energies and convert them into a usable form."  He walked across the shop floor, to where the books on magic were sitting.  He picked up the first one, along with the now-charged G-Core, and turned to take them over to Gizogin.  Then one of the other books caught his eye.
The Complyte Gide to Beastes, Bothe Magickal and Mundane; translated and annotated by Jathrur; the bestiary he'd overlooked before.  He called Gizogin over, handed him the introductory magic book and the Core, and picked up the bestiary.  There was something he needed to check.

[My boss has given me the raw deal again today... then inspection gave me another raw deal in a hot order folder. Its lunchtime now, but at this rate I might not get to play tonight until after midnight. Spirit tulsa has given me an impossible job, and they don't know how to run a catia seat properly. Their model is pure shite. I am elbow deep into fixing it to match their OPS sheet requirements for our NC programmers. Tonight has sucked. Big time.]
