Weird sighed.  2 days without any sleep, and all this excitement was taking its toll. Gods he wished he had some coffee. He'd have to find a way to synthesize caffine, and mix it with sunberry juice. Maybe he could call it morning in a cup or something.

Eric was mostly done with the remaining section of wall, and his handcart loaded with stuff parked in front of the dining hall was about to get walled in.

"Good. Hold that thought."

He walked up behind eric, excused himself to get into the soon to be walled in area amidst growling displeasures from eric about his 'going native' and 'doing stupidly dwarven things' like 'getting himself walled in.'  Pushing the cart back out, he was glad peepers was still sleeping, and was careful not to jar the cart too hard. The last thing he wanted was for eric to find out about peepers. Not just yet.

"What was so gods damned important that you had to interrupt construction to get a stupid cart out?" Growled eric.

"Its got food on it. It'd go bad, and spew miasma in there." He thought fast. "That, and resources are pretty low, what with the incessant emergencies lately. Don't waste what you can't easily replace."

Eric looked at him coldly with dubious eyes. "Don't do it again." He said flatly, then resumed chipping at rocks.

'Close call' he thought to himself, wheeling the cart up beside hugo.

"Let's go back to the kitchens, we can talk there." He said. "Besides, I still have bread to finish.. I presume that either negotiatons broke down horribly, or that things are calmed down now. Likely the latter, given that eric is just sour instead of homicidal, yes?"

You know, I am mildly laughing that every time that a forumite wishs to talk to another, they go to the kitchen.

Oh, the entire war against Phyrexia, except for the final battle, will be within different journal entries that were later compiled into a book series by the survivors of the conflict.

Book 1, pg.34, Entry 1 of Zanzetkuken's Journal, Just after the first conflict

Hematite 16, Year 3567
(Using game years since world-gen)
The only Phyrexian outpost in this plane has been destroyed.  The Slashdiver worked wonderfully.  The bombardment brought on destruction of all outer defenses, and the landing defeated the Phyrexians that were within the mountain.  I shut down the portal permanently by removing the activation crystals from the control frame.  I must wonder, why did they lose this outpost so easily?  They must have been trying to gauge our strength or deter us from attacking further.  Either way, we will not be using the portal, in fact, we shall not remain here.

I must wonder, should the Slashdiver remain after the war?  It is powerful, and could be used to subjugate other planes under the empire.  I do not want that.  But how to prevent that?  How?  The answer should come to me, later.  They have before.

Weird has a legitimate reason to go there! If you've ever made home-made bread, you know that its an ordeal getting it ready for baking.  You don't just leave it to become yeast-zilla in the kitchen!

In fact, every time he's gone there, it was for a legit reason... other people follow him around! (Course, he's easy to detect, what with singing broadway showtunes while cooking......)

Bread gets cooked, weird finds out about hugo's dietary intolerances, retires back to his quarters to continue pouring through the illict reading material with hugo.. gets sleepy, chases hugo out, and discovers that his pillows are slashed from earlier when he needed feathers.

Decides to steal zanz's pillows from next door. (Since he's out, he won't miss them! Lol!)

[Back in the world of our fort, I'd like to think that we have no idea how long it's been since World Gen, though presumably it's at least a few thousand years.]

[I know about baking bread; you've got to beat it down every so often while it's rising. Once we experimented with putting the uneaten oatmeal from the breakfast pot into the dough. It turned out delicious, but we didn't write down the recipe. Damn]

"You know, I may have to subject myself to some science," said HugoLuman. "I have no idea on the healthy lifestyle of a dragon, and we could use some data for if they ever attack. For real, that is. Which they may, according to what Corai and I found out about the current political climate in Zanz's place."

Corai wandered the halls until he located his old room. Picking the lock, not that he needed too though. He pushed the door open with struggle, the door had become rusted and heavy from the under-use. He walked to his closet, picked out a purple tie and a fresh suit and put both on. Taking the instructions for making bullets at a forge with him, he sat down and began cleaning his uzi.

Weird checked in on Mr Peepers. Removing the covering cloth woke the little "bird" from its respite, and the adorbably abominable chick chirped intermittently in curiosity, tilting its horrific head side to side as weird loaded the now well risen loaves into the dutch oven to bake.

"That guy (zanz) really should pay more attention to the story of damocles. Sitting in the big chair is not something any sensible person should ever desire after."

He turned back around and leaned over the counter.

"I uh.... noticed that your noodles didn't quite..erhm.... agree... with you this morning. Have you been having trouble eating lately?  Dragons are hot blooded with a high metabolism. Id expect that you would be a lot like a bird, needing to eat neary their own body weight daily to stay alive. Was it the noodles, or the mushrooms, do you think? Or was it the cake? I don't want you starving to death. I need to know what you can and can't eat."

He walked out from behind the counter and leaned over Hugo's bleeding leg.

"In the meantime, since nobody's around to see, let's see about that. Looks nasty."

Weird bowed back his fingers to crack his knucles, then reached for the wound with a sickly yellowish light emanating from his hand...

"You know, this is very interesting. Having skimmed through Thari's texts, I saw they indicate that healing someone at will requires that they be under your influence, but maybe my tether to your soul will allow you to heal me without that green goop."

Down in the lower reaches of the fortress, Arkoth and his 5 friends were digging out the blockage to find the tomb of that mummy. They had gotten a bit lost, though, having not dug in this part of the fort or ever even been down here before. Arkoth was starting to suspect that they might be several feet too low when his next strike went through into air on the other side. "Ach, Finally!" he sighed. Then he looked in. "Say Abod, does this seem a wee bit large te ye? How big was this tomb suppos't tae be?"
"I think the boss said aboot the size of paupers' room."
"Well, damn, it looks like we've got the wrong ancient ruin then. This one be much too large. Alright, lads, never mind! Keep digging!"
"If it not be the one we're lookin' fer, which one it be then?"
"Well, 10 ta one I says we'd better let the, erm, higher-oops look at it first. Would'na want to disturb anythin' they might wan'ta see."

A bit of an insight for the common soldier.  Most likely what I will be using to describe the war.

Book 1 pg. 76  Obe, Medic of 4079th, Skirmish of the plains of decay

Date Unknown
Urist and Oxut died today.  Had to destroy the bodies to prevent them from becoming zombies.  why must we go through this?  The loss of over half the platoon has been killed in just trying to survive here!  The Phyrexians seem to be content to wait us out, but we must not lose hope.  They cannot win!  I must fulfill the promise I made upon my wife's grave.

No. I'm just waiting for Weird to continue our current scene. I don't think anyone's online right now, though.
