Corai and his three companions, obvliosous to the fire in the distance, returned to the dining room to see several dwarves huddled under the stone tables.

"EVERYONE OUT, NOW." a dwarf with a hammer said, "WE NEED THESE."

We need these to survive! Theres a freaking war out there!

"If you may?" the kobold said.

"I do need to test out my hammer..."

The room cleared, and the four began to haul stacks of chairs and tables back to the dining room. "Hope that this is heavy enough to keep em' in." Corai said.

"If it isnt, then we alllll dead." the hammerdwarf said. "Names Ryugen."

"Corai."

"Yeah I know you. Pretty much everyone does in this fort."

Weird picked up the tome. "How the hell did you even get them in here? It's not physically possible!"

"It's a very long winded explaination, and I don't really want to say. The kobold I had do it is dead now, anyways."

"How would anyone even find them here anyway? It's probably more secure than anywhere we could move them now."

"It doesn't matter. We can get rid of them when we're done."

Weird replaced the stone over the now empty space, and smoothed over it with the bucket of plaster they brought for this purpose.

[What, we have Greiger's mod now?]

Hey Eric, I have to ask, why was it that you started hating my character?

And I see you put in some of the new stuff in my mod.  :D

1) I dunno lol.

2) Nope! My draconic beasts mod. Dragonmen are one of the first things I wanted to do, after basilisks and mountain wyverns and whatnot. Took forever to figure out why their civ wasn't working, and now I wish I never did... I got my first ambush just now. Torched another 3-4 dwarves and ruined my attempts to trade with the dwarven caravan, so I had to steal their stuff again. To think I chose to embark on a separate continent, away from all other civilizations, with the explicit intent to avoid invaders and build a massive fortress in peace. I'm five years in and barely got a wall up in time to save the fort. Fuck you, dragonmen, fuck you...

I'd hazard a guess in three words:

God mode sue.

Your character invents convenient plot devices to accomplish insurmountable tasks with rapatious ease, making all that other people suffer for seem like worthless sacrifices.  This never wins brownie points.

Take a look at my char: he knows an epic shitton of stuff, and can do a lot of diverse things, but everything he does or knows has prerequisites that he has to work for, or suffer for. He's *still* trying to make a new hazard suit, working through the steps laboriously.  He appreciates the product of his work, because he works for it.

Another issue eric seems to dislike your character over are the super invisiospies, continuity breaking clairvoyance issues, and "super dragon man to the rescue!"-esque behavior.  People shouldn't be larger than life, or if they are, they should suffer from being so. (My char has people constantly trying to solicit his help in emergencies, and can't even get a good nights sleep as a result. This is a consequence of being larger than life.)

One aspect that the comic books never address is who pays the bill when superman and the villians level metropolis to save the world.  People are fickle things, and while superman really is saving the world, try explaining that to the people who's church got blown up, daycare was smashed while their kids were inside, or who are now out of work because their factory was blown up.  Such people look desperately for someone to blae for their problems, and naturally balme the person who is always involved: superman. Add to that the reality that metropolis was a nice quiet place to live before superman showed up, and you can clearly see why they blame him for the troubles that spring up in his wake.

Your character suffers superman-itis, and as a consequence, isn't making very many friends.

Guess why the public likes Lex? Naah, I really do believe we need a Superman on the team. It makes our exploits even more weird.

Alright, I guess that's a pretty accurate statement. I was just going to be lazy and not answer.

Really, Zanzetkuken, whenever your character shows up the problem just disappears magically, and we're all left thinking "Well, great, so what do we do now?" and that's a rather miserably boring predicament to be in. I suppose I was godmoding too when I blew up the centipede chasm, but ya'll left me there for several hours with nothing but explosives to keep me company, and I love explosives. What did you expect to happen? :P

Although admittedly I only mentioned that I love explosives once before on this forum.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind him being super dragon man.  Just that super dragon man should suffer the consequences of being super dragon man, in all its ignaminious glory.

Suffering negative backlash, and risking being jaded by the harsh critiques of his peers adds depth to the character, and makes the character more believable.

This is like my char being somebody people look up to, and ask for help from.... he's a softie deep down, and doesn't want people to suffer (which is why he usually does help if he can), but he doesn't want to be responsible for them either, and hates cleaning up messes.  He's very much a reluctant anti-hero. He comes off as an asshole, because he's trying to protect himself from the endless wave of assailing adversity that fate keeps hurling at him. Its why he's a hopeless loner without any major ties to anyone. In his experience, when he gets close to someone, fate makes him suffer for it. Being alone all the time is easier to cope with.  It totally floors him that people keep looking up to him as a role model, when he knows for a fact just how faulted and wicked he really is deep down.  He's not a shining knight in majestic armor. He's an ugly old bum with an old battered umbrella, who clubs muggers when they try to steal women's purses. And he knows it.

Id love to see a deep introspection of ZTGs character, where he contemplates why people don't appreciate his interventions, where he suffers self doubt, and considers leaving them to suffer, and fights that idea on internal moral grounds.  Imagine superman feeling depressed over being blamed for the deaths of orphans, because of where he threw lex luthor's super bomb, and contemplating if it would be better if superman never flew again, and if the guilt of inaction would be easier to bear than the guilt of the consequences of action.  That kind of thing makes superman more real.  Just don't get too emo with it though.

[I guess that explains a few things.  Look at Gizogin; he mostly sticks to his hospital and workshop, and hasn't really been involved with the many bizarre events and world-breaking disasters that are so common around here.  He just handles the wounded afterwards.  As a result, he actually has a lot of freedom, because nobody expects him to do anything but manage the hospital.  He's also (if I'm reading the situation properly) a fairly well-respected character, and his position insulates him from the worst of the scheming and fighting.  It's like how soldiers have this unwritten agreement to not shoot the other side's medics, and to respect the Red Cross.

I think I did a good job of not godmoding, what with how it took Gizogin a long time and several attempts to get an progress on the G-Bodies.  Also, I've been trying to keep his medical skills following a reasonable progression, though of course I have to make sacrifices for humor and for the sake of the story.  It helps that I don't really go into detail with what his methods are.]

Gizogen comes off as the absent minded professor type.

Totally oblivious to the fact that there is a world outside the hospital, and spends all his time working and tinkering in his own little slice of reality.

He gets very angry when people start screwing with his hospital zone, or with his work, but the whole fortress could crash down around him, and he wouldn't care as long as his hospital was there, and he had patients to work on.

Case in point:

His whole source of anger over the whole "clockworks hugo" arc was that somebody was paigiarizing his clockwork droids.  Didn't care about the risk to the whole of space and time-- he was angry somebody would have the cheek to blatantly steal his designs without giving credit!

And I'm sort of an amoral idealist.
It seems like Corai here is the only one with a  sense of morals, yet it's all under his kleptomania and kobold ADHD.

Amoral I can agree with.  Idealist is kinda more hard.

He has short term desires, but doesn't quite think about consequences, or the wishes and desires of other people.  He seems to genuinely have difficulty understanding why somebody *wouldnt* want a personality altering neural implant installed, or have their body replaced with a hydraulically powered steam roller with wreckingball arms.  "Because that's just awesome!"

Your type is the kind my type has learned to avoid.  Getting involved causes way too much drama. Best just to warn people about you and your history of abductions.... and leave it at that. He wouldn't go out of his way to sabotage your lab, because that kind of rivalry causes way too much collateral damage.

Your character doesn't seem to consider the effects of his actions much more distant in the future than just a few hours, and as such, is not mentally bothered by the concept of ethical consequences.  He's a bit sociopathic that way.

I just hate pain and suffering wherever it may be found, and am frustrated by how much of it happens. I like to help people, don't believe in causing death in any situation, and try to mediate things if I can. Case in point, flipping out when Weird was talking about euthanization/ Corai was murdering elves. Haven't gotten many opportunities to try to mediate disputes, though, as my major screw ups and the crazy things that seem to keep happening to me leave me incapacitated a lot. On the whole I've practically given up on that and am just trying to make sense of what the flying fuck is going on.

Idealist, technical pacifist, atheist, and possessed of both a strong sense of empathy and a good deal of patience. Believes there is some good in everyone, though is willing to admit that many people are indeed doing very wrong. Somewhat disturbed by living in a world with flesh-and-blood dieties. Needs a lot of motivation to take action. Would not be able to willingly take a person's life under almost any circumstance.

Yeah, I picked up on that.

One of the character flaws mine has is that he oftentimes doesn't solicit outside opinions before arriving at a conclusion:  the euthanization of the tower horrors being one of them. (Another being the unilateral decision to destroy Thari's books, and to keep people like Eric from practicing necromancy. He'll take the plunge to find out on his own, and then actively keep people from making his mistakes, weather they ask for it or not. This is not an endearing quality, even though he means well by it.)

In his analysis, these were innocent people that hadn't done anything to warrant their suffering, and forcing them to live that way was unspeakably cruel, and that death was a legitimately merciful solution.  His opinion changed when most of them openly stated they wanted to live, regardless of their percieved suffering.  One thing he holds in highest esteem is the power of willful choice, and informed consent.  He would let a person endure literal hell, if they knowingly chose it. The one caveat to that though, is if they chose something horrible, and then beg release from it later.  He feels people should endure the consequences of their actions, and will not intervene in that natural course of events.  If scorpion man comes and says he was wrong, and wants to die, weird will tell him to deal with it himself, and quite bluntly too. Scorpion man is not his responsibility.

In like kind, he doesn't expect anyone to bail him out if he chooses to do something stupid, like get killed, injured, captured, or tortured.  He would verbally berate anyone who would be stupid enough to come rescue him, which doesn't win him any brownie points. He feels experience is the best teacher, and if the proscribed outcome of the stupid choice is death, he expects to die for it. No exceptions.

As a result of this personal ethical code of conduct, he absolutely refuses to screw people over, or lead them down a road with deleterious consequences if he can at all avoid it.  This is why if he sanitizes thari's research like hugo wants, he'll be damned sure its as squeeky clean as fucking mother goose before letting it loose.
