Someday I want to write a story about the saga of Zen Jr. Dude has been through a lot.
please do. I have been enthralled by his story but haven't really know what to post myself besides, the prince continues being moody, quiet and strange.

now I have no idea what is going to happen or how I will kill Ishar this turn.

Demonbound would be a new and creative solution from you.

Maybe it is your legendary status, or possibly champion position, but neither of you guys will stop training long enough to do the reaction, I even disabled the barracks and all you do is perpetually store stuff and go on break. I'll keep trying.

Hah, Darkhawk has taken the job! I took Ishar out of the champion rank so maybe he will follow suit.

Oh dear, possible loyalty cascade.

Edit: Yup, it's a loyalty cascade, the whole fort is fighting right now, I thought at first it was cult activity but this isn't that. Let it play out or restart summer again?

Game on hold till you guys decide, but if we let it play out I think we will be down to maybe 10 dudes, if that.

How did that happen ?  If it was from a dwarf that went berserk from a reaction (by adding the crazed tag) than it is a bug and I have to rethink a lot of stuff.

It was a berserk maniac I believe it was called, a mason/siege operator who was perfectly fine up until she started punching babies and strangling dogs, I set the military on her but before they got there she attacked a miner who killed her. Now the miner is simultaneously scaring others and being scared by them, assorted random punchings have spread it to many others, and I do not know the full extent of the problem now, but all the armed civilians seem to have taken a hatred for our guardian animals.

Pretty sure if it was one of the spoilers, those effected would show up on the enemy/other screen rather than the units screen right? The only one who did that was the initial maniac. I can change the labors and try to give orders to all the others right now and they will respond, until they find someone of another faction anyway.

So yeah, pretty sure this is a bug, initial person went berserk and shows in the other screen as: Shash Regonam, Talented Sieger Mason Maniac, all others are not berserk and fighting amongst themselves. Sorry Meph I think you got some work ahead of you.

I have a save for Beginning of Summer, I can start over and avoid this, I can also upload the save as it stands if anyone wants to look at it.

Aha!  Byproduct of failed research.  My guess: Shash Regonam was trying to research a Lifemancer rune and got a failure .. that's reaction_masterwork.txt(6910).

Sounds like Meph ruled that a bug!  Go ahead and restart.

That makes a lot of sense, I had gotten this far without that happening when my comp crashed last time, so the RNG being mean during research seems reasonable. I will restart and cancel the research projects.

Meph, do you want a copy of the save with the bug for your own info? Or did Smakemupagus find enough out for you to go on?

I have to admit that I am ahead of you guys ;)

I had two ways to make people crazed, one is transforming them into a custom creature that is a dwarf copy, non-civ member and crazed, the other was by syndrome, adding the crazed tag. To make it more obvious who is affected, I added the display name "maniac" I thought the second way would work better, since it does not require a transformation, but making people crazed with a custom reaction does not revoke their civ-membership. Someone mentioned that once in the modding forum, but so far I never got a report about the loyality cascade happening.

When you said this, I immediatly thought about all this, that is why my first question was exactly about it. ;)

tl;dr: I know the bug. And I know how to fix it (by using the more complicated version with transformations) I just never like using transformations to often, because of the random-crashes when viewing the creature description (conflicting colormodifiers) AND that there will be no dwarven corpse to bury. (maybe, transformations should revert back to normal after death, but itemcorpse and similar things overrides this)

But Thanks :) One more obscure bug found. A rare one as well. Next research reactions will be different.

Edit: Wait a second, that is exactly what I wanted this succession fort for in the first place :) Everything went better then expected :)

Agggh, we find such an obscure bug, only to be outfoxed by the master.

Onward gentlemen, to discover and/or create ever more obscure and confounding problems!
