I think I am gonna start using the non war trainable animals as ambush bait, set up up in range of the tower and let them get murdered by stealthers.

As to the turn, if it is all the same to everyone else then I will do the full year, I am having fun and there are some projects I'd like to see finish.

Edit: Can someone point me towards the fixes suggested?

Quote
- Added no_sleep to demonbound, shadowmancer and earhbound. Got reports that those fall asleep endlessly, should be fixed.

This is my changelog. So,please, avoid these three mages. Sorry for that, but I really dont want to see darkhawk-turned-stonebound to die a useless death.

I also got reports from reddit that one guy made a bunch of lifemancers and resurrected his dead citizens, so that works, and can possible raise the population again :) Dont know how it is with skeletal corpses/heavily rotten ones that have been buried already...

I also hate the game just now for disrespecting underground depths for layer linked entities... I just checked, the antmen have    [BIOME:SUBTERRANEAN_CHASM] [UNDERGROUND_DEPTH:1:1] and shouldnt even appear in cavern lvl 2 or 3. That is very unfortunate, since I wanted to make 3 races, early, medium, late, that get more difficult, with each one in one cavern section. Seems that wont work.

So in short, just add a [no_sleep] tag to those three, don't forget the brackets. You can find them in <savefolder>\raw\objects\creature_masterwork.txt. If there's already a no_sleep tag, somebody already fixed that, but I doubt it.
Also, if the lifemancer actually raises buried corpses, we may have a sudden population boom of various Ishars soon...

Thanks, I'll get that in there before I start Spring. My recollection of the Lifemancer is that once the corpse is buried or memorialized it stays down, but I could be wrong, guess we'll see soon enough.

More Edit!: Given that I am fixing the bug, Ishar you still want Stonebound rather than Demonbound? The latter will probably serve you better against the crowds you will be fighting, plus you can dual-wield the Zweihanders you love so much. I'll do whatever you like though.

If he wants demonbound, i take the stonebound for Darkhawk.... Or Demonbound too, but we dont want a berserk badass-hero rampaging through the fort ;)

Tempting... fuck it, let's go demonbound! It fits better with what I have in mind for my dwarf anyway.

Another thing: I just tried the library of warfare yesterday. It's ridiculously effective. You can make a shitload of books in the scriptorium/tanner with nothing but leather, wood and ash (common ingredients), and 10 defense books boosts a totally untrained recruit to adept in one field. 40 books, and you have an adept sworddwarf-fighter-dodger-armor user. 400 of those - while takes some time - trains ten of those beasts.
Wood is cheap, especially with tree farming. Ash is practically limitless, by cremating vermin and invader limbs. Leather is very cheap from caravans as well. This may need some balancing in the future.

panopticon; I'll be in N Portland tomorrow. Have you picked who you will be making into a lifemancer this year?
Which is actually a really epic thing, isnt it? The Magmamancer rises from a exploding hall of the mountain king, sounds cool to me ;)
agreed

I did, I am making my own dude into one, I finished Spring and will have the write up for that shortly, my guy went to the Fountain and used the Tome of Life, however he only gained Adept Druid and did not turn into a Lifemancer, not exactly sure what is up with that, the Druid skill doesn't seem to do anything unless you are also a spellcaster.

In other news, we have 2 Runes and one Evil book thing, so I can do two Stonebound this year, plus one Demonbound or Shadowmancer, as well as virtually unlimited Magmamancers. Currently it appears that Ishar will try for Demonbound and Darkhawk gets to be Stonebound. So if someone else wants to be Stonebound let me know. I personally don't like Shadowmancers for their tendency to reanimate corpses that are hostile to life, and that is a major risk in our fort, which has bodies everywhere and something like 4 refuse stockpiles, though they rock as ranged combatants.

Pre-emptive welcome to Portland Zen, PM me to exchange contact info if you want to meet up and say hi in meatspace.

He didn't inhale thy syndrome for the transformation, you need to try again. This happens quite often.

You should try burrowing zen to the same square. Maybe he will inhale something and get his hands back like we tried with his son. First remove/replace him with someone else on the nobles screen for everything. The barron/duke noble position is the only one that will still let you work, you should be able to get him out of work-exemption-status to do it if you remove everything else(trade liason etc). I am really curious if the technique we tried before can work, and I plan on burrowing zen into every transformation I attempt on my turn just to see if it can be done. Also, zen really would like to be a lifemancer. If you don't wanna go through that bother please at lease try it for the lifemancer one.

Even though his job said 'Noble' I get what you're saying that the work-exemption is supposed to be bugged.  It's possible he just doesn't take the job because he doesn't have hands.  Anyway, I don't think he had any other positions a few years ago when I tried, and he didn't take the job.

Stupid crashes, I lost Summer again. It was exciting too, children growing up, Darkhawk murdering Bandits, healing Mokar's brain injury at the Fountain, Ishar dying to a 40 Mind Flayer siege along with all the Golems, it was great, now I have no idea what is going to happen or how I will kill Ishar this turn.

Edit: Ishar refuses to wear his leg or foot armor, and only sometimes puts on a hat, a Steel Helm no less. It is like he wants the sweet embrace of death.

Wow, you would have killed Ishar? In an open battle? Impressive :D

It would have been a combination of about 12 Mind Flayers and Ishar not wearing pants that did it, if he would just PUT HIS ARMOR BACK ON he would be fine.

Anyway, Summer update tomorrow, at least.
