Panopticon: Yeah, I've noticed, I'll do something about that. At least the booze problem was solved, thanks to the drow traders. Those are slowly becoming my favorite DF race - they have kickass warbeasts, decent metals, and they don't get a heart attack from a wooden bin.

Zenerbufen: Somehow nobody operates the screw press, so we don't have oil for the transformation. It's rather embarrasing, I had three dwarfs assigned to it, turning every other task off, but they still decided to hang out in the dining hall instead of working. Lazy pricks.

That's it for my turn, I kicked it up a notch towards the end: we have dragons, direwolves, more sauropods, drow metals, and defeated a couple more orcs and goblins.

My dwarf is now stronger than my previous one, so he should be fine as long as you don't let him go insane this time.
Also don't sign me up for another turn this time, I won't be able to play for a while, but I'll be back on 23rd July.

Good luck, this fort is REALLY hard to screw up now, but don't take that as a challenge - breach the cavern near the garrison only if you are prepared, we had two sieges and a forgotten beast from there, so ambush parties are almost certain to lurk down there.

PS: Oh, there was a bug about the moat-bridge thing when the dwarf traders came, they are still stuck. I don't really know what to do with them, so feel free to throw them into magma or something.

Awesome update Ishar.  d/l'ing now to have a look.  Can't wait to see this 'hole' your poor dwarf is consigned to live in.

(Yes, all of this.)

I didn't even count the 16 platinum statues. I'm guessing around 16. But you gota hand it to me, only the bedroom has a fully engraved floor, the rest of the rooms only have engravings on the walls - that's some working class shit right there!

Btw, that... thing... in the top-left corner is supposed to be a direwolf. Looks like a warthog or something, it's a bit silly.

I dunno, you may have bigger and cooler rooms, but I took all the artifact furniture.

I dare you to make a better 16*16 pixel direwolf. (And you probably can) IF you do, I will replace the old one ;)

Woo, the crown prince is now a baron. Remember: If your baron dies or goes insane, you will not be able to appoint another baron and consequently get other nobles which are upgraded from baron, including count and duke. So don't kill me! :)

@jakmak re: (the text is bugging out like some of the letters are missing and there is just a black space)

using truetype fonts i guess?  this happens a lot to me when using truetype.  try switch back to "regular" font.  the hotkey is F11 or F12 i forget which one.

Ooookay, seems like you should quietly savescum back to the summer autosave. Resize my office or something, maybe that helps, and/or give Zen some platinum furniture. And for Armok's sake, DO NOT BREACH THE DEMON FORT with less than 10 battle-ready dwarves.

I just had an awesome (a bit exploit-y) idea. Essence fractures come from fallen megabeasts, correct? Dragons are megabeasts, correct? So, if we butcher them, we get to train one skill to legendary for each dragon, correct? We should breed them like crazy, butcher their younglings, and have an unbeatable military within a few years. How long does it take for dragon eggs to hatch anyway?
If this tactic is possible, I think Meph will fix it in the next update though, essence farming doesn't seem like an intentional move.

Edit: I don't know what's the problem with Zen. His office has a solid gold throne, how is that not enough? Mine has two stone shairs...

Pretty sure dragons don't count anymore as megabeasts.

I'm not a huge fan of savescumming, but I do kinda want Zen to stay alive so I won't argue much about it if you guys decide to.

Edit: He is probably pissed that a certain previous overseer took all the artifact furniture to put in his own office.

i dont know how that could be enough i mean the first time i found out about it in is thoughts thats exactly what it said "traumatized by a lesser pretentious office arrangements" i mean he probably has the best office and he acted like his desk raped him. my only explenation is that you have just a slightly better office and arnet nobles complete dicks when it comes to that stuff. also i did not know the demon fort was in the area. i thought it was a bit deeper down. besides i had it so that most of the zambies would not be able to get up there only the birds can.

It just hit me: Flooding the caverns may not work as a whole, but there ARE pockets of small independent 'valleys', those will surely be filled. Also, there's a path connecting the tow cavern layers, water may reach that, and possibly even the third layer if there's a similar connection to that. Also also, that may even flood the demon fort.
This flood may not be such a bad idea.

thing is i DID try to flood cavern lvl 1 and it did sorta work. i had a few problems like i made the tunnel 1 wide which is something i tried to correct when i tried to get to lvl 2 but shit hit the fan too hard with the goblins. i swear it was like a siege. also my fps was kinda low (20) but thats a minor issue. another thing i put the pump next to the moat to get the cage of turrets which i did recover but the moat was not refiling fast enough so for half a second near the pump it would be empty.

i still don't understand how flooding the caverns helps anything? just making some puddles in low lying places why?... even if the flood does fill the demon fort, how does that help?  it only prevents us from getting in.

@ishar/panopticon: how could the baron possibly NOT tantrum with you guys making yourself offices like that, lol  8)

@jakmak: if you're concerned at all about fliers getting in do you know how to seal off the breach you made in the cavern?  construct up stairs to replace the up/downs?

@all:  Dragon elven-warbeast is a different creature than the Dragon megabeast, and i am pretty sure the former won't drop essences

[CREATURE:DRAGON_TAME]
[DESCRIPTION:A gigantic reptilian creature, that has a powerful fire breath. They make the best warbeasts anyone could hope for. They do burn things down rather quickly, so take care. Even weapons and armor might be melted and become unuseable. Friendly fire is not just possible, but certain.]

vs.

[CREATURE:DRAGON]
[DESCRIPTION:A gigantic reptilian creature.  It is magical and can breath fire.  These monsters can live for thousands of years.]
