I'm posting to say I'm not dead. The problem is, fps fell down to 3 (yes, three). Factors that might have caused this:
-223 dwarfs
-169 pets
-2851 food/booze/seeds stored
-1546 ammo (Seriously? Whose idea was this?)
-Lavacannon system spanning dozens of z-levels
-Laughable number of engravings

What should I do? We are nowhere close to the caverns or anything. A more serious problem: my royal palace is still not finished! No magma moat or anything yet, and it's only partially furnished with gold!
I'm halfway through summer by the way.

EDIT: Sorry, solved this. Somebody ordered a metric fuckton of zinc doors constructed at the manager, as well as several leather trinkets, and it turns out that several hundred dwarfs starting and canceling these jobs (lack of material) tends to slow down the game. Who knew.

Yeah sorry, I figured since I inherited the fort with 175 statues, we needed 175 of everything else to match ;)

The ammo falls to my fault... I ordered it on repeat, because the original idea was to arm everyone.... Well, forgot about it, do what you want with the bolts :D

The statues and beds too, forgot that i had them on repeat :D

This starts to look like a proper succession fort at least. I mean holy shit, thousands of random items, elaborate personal palaces, lots and lots of magma, chaotic defense system...

Oh by the way, I just added a special lever. If you pull it, the whole place will be flooded with magma EXCEPT MY QUARTERS. Okay maybe Panopticon's, too, since his is higher than mine. That's a design flaw I hope to correct by the end of the year.

This palace of mine could possibly be the most extreme case of dwarfen hedonism I've ever created. Check it out:

-Personal tomb with golden sarcophagus, marble fountains and decorative plants
-Private farms, enough to sustain the occupant (me) indefinitely
-Large private food stockpile
-Large bedroom with masterwork golden statues
-Dining hall with solid gold furniture
-Workshop area with a golden still and kitchen
-Personal storage area with my own library of warfare, of course golden armor stands, weapon racks, cabinets and chests
-Every surface engraved
-Some of the doors are cobalt, some are gold, but the symmetry is flawless.
-Entry hall with tungsten statues, and two war cave dragons thrown in for security. This is also a private statue garden of course.
-Two slade turrets protected by an absurdly huge magma moat.
-Seperate drawbridge, operated from inside.
-My very own lever of the apocalypse: when pulled, it will flood the fort with sweet-sweet magma.
-Fun fact: My dwarf doesn't hold any noble titles, he's not even squad commander.

You are welcome to build anyting to top this (seriously, who builds a still out of gold?). Reassigning it is an incredibly cheap move, and flooding it would also flood the fort.

Once we actually get some real nobles, they are gonna be so pissed off, gonna have another crazy Zen or something.

Well, I didn't use any artifact furniture, unlike somebody, so the noble situation can still be fixed with those.

Do we even have any artifact furniture? When I get my next turn I have to figure out how I am gonna improve my rooms to top yours.

We certainly have a blood of Armok bed for example, but it's not on the 'build bed' list, so someone alreadyclaimed it. Anyway, that's kinda badass.

Yes I gave it to Smak II, I figured it was a fitting momento of how I spent that turn :)

BTW I can't picture exactly how your implemented it but I think if you seal up the courtyard roofs and all other outlets of the fort with a magmatight fittings, your doomsday device would eventually flood Panopticon's villa too, well unless his drawbridge gate is shut of course.  Likewise your drawbridge is needed to protect your villa.  The magma is pressurized when the pumps are engaged after all.

Maybe have to obsidianize the outlet of his magmafall.

Obsidianize or cave in I think are the only ways too stop it, I just cut a hole in the mountainside because it was fun.
