Can you fit Fort-destroying duty into your shedule right now Meph? Or should someone else charge the underground structure?

It is mostly my godforsaken internetspeed that is hindering me. How can I reserach stuff for travelling, upload DF things, download music and games and design a website, if I only have 25kbs ? My DSL only comes in 2 weeks I have been told... -.-

You have been told in 2 weeks? No, douple that... and thats if you are lucky :D Depends on the provider too, maybe you have to take your two weeks times 3 ;)

Welcome to germany, where everyone has internet, but if you are in the "remote" areas, your internet will suck :)

Panopticon is going to start us off again? the alpha is up.. lets break some ground... What are we calling this doomed fort?

Also, I used to live within minutes of microsoft's main campus and couldn't get decent broadband, that surprised me.

Hehe, it was comcast that didn't work.. the only broadband available, and completely oversold, my internet slowed to a crawl after.. 6-7 pm, and didn't speed back up until like 4-5 am. annoying. Also, bill gates bought me some college text books and helped me pay the difference in my tuition when the VA didn't cover all my costs. Microsoft isn't all bad, comcast however is.

world gen is underway.. age of legends..the dark drow have a fairly large presence, I havn't spotted any other civilizations yet..  The drow have claimed a large mountain and dubbed it "The Dimensional Hill, and made a huge fortress on top, the fortress of Thorumufene. To the south is a large baren scorched/burnt area and to the north a large river, and 'some' green...

into the golden age... the drow have spread some greenery south into the desert, where they encountered the dark frost giants, who have the fortress of haikailematonerakko, they have dubbed the souther reagion.. desert of conflicts.

World gen is finished.. there is a mountain range to the east "the fed spine" that is the home of the dwarfs. to the south in the desert of conflicts is a small dark goblin settlement.  thier is a mountain range to the north of the desert of conflicts where the drow started that is called The axe of savaging. This is where the drow started and where thier main 'kingdom' is. The drow are HUGE, they have outposts all over the world. For instance there are more drow dotted around the dwarven 'homeland' than there are dwarves, and those are just the drows 'minor' outposts. there is a valley the runs between the two mountains where the deserts of conflicts runs through all the way up north to the river. The river isn't actually a river however because of the 'sneaky desert' that cuts it into two gulfs, where the two deserts meet there is a hill called the lovely hill that is occupied by both the drow and dark frost giants.  to either side of the sneaky desert are the walled hill to the east and the socketed jungle to the west. Both are home to the dark frost giants. The drow also have a large presence here.

The humans have a small civilization between the dwarfs and the drow in the valley between both mountains in the desert of conflicts.

I want a vulcano, i have never played with one of those, mostly because i never tinkered with advanced worldgen :D

Are lava-lakes possible? Like having a completely flat area, with a pool of magma just sitting there, waiting to be weaponized/used for magmaforges? Or are there lava-workshops in this alpha version already?

Man, i have high hopes.... i want the first turn i can get into my greedy german hands :D

There are volcanoes/lavalakes in all the deserts, in all the mountains, in the socketed jungle, and in the western gulf.

edit: oops those arn't volcanoes, thoese are actually just more drow forts. holly heck, the drow are EVERYWHERE

edit edit: oops those really are volcanoes, it looks like the drow like volcanoes, most of the volcanoes have a drow fort on or directly next to them.

If these are simple drow, and not evil ones, I don't mind settling next to them, as long as we have access to some sweet magma from the beginning.

Is it an isolated incident that drow are so widespread, or did they get some accidental buff that makes them dominate the world by default?

Since this is a alpha release and Meph changed a lot of stuff they are probably too strong.
I would not be surprised if he has to balance a lot of stuff after it is tested for a while.
