Children.
« on: May 16, 2012, 05:31:02 pm »

I've got about 10 children running around my fortress, but they are constantly tantrumming and four of them have already gone insane. Apparently this is because they're embarrassed that they're naked.
a) What clothes do I have to make for them (I have cloth)
b) Do I have to equip it or just put it in a stockpile

Shoes, shirt or tunic, and trousers.  Just put it in a stockpile.  They will put it on.  However, once they have begun tantruming it may be too late to save their sanity.

Is there a way I could get them all in a room, with a burrow maybe, and atom smash them with no witnesses?
Could I do this with babies too?

It will be tough to get them into a room using burrows, especially if they're tantruming.  Burrows only restrict where a job can be performed or materials can be taken from, not literal movement.  So assigning them to a burrow won't just make them go there.  I think you might be able to put a lever in there and assign them to the lever, then request it to be pulled, but I don't know if children can be assigned like that.

you could put some food in it and they will take it as the only place to get food?

also. slink was slightly inaccurate. you need a clothing for upper body, lower body and feet, though I heard somewhere that skirts didn't count, but I'm doubting that

Lower body? I was under the impression that you only needed upper body and feet. None of the dwarves I've checked have had unhappy thoughts from no lower-body clothes, at least.

"emberrased at being exposed"

made one of my elite military go berserk. He had a shirt and high boots, but having no pants under his greaves made him go nuts

Well since greaves are just like rather large shin guards I can see that. How would you feel if you were walking around with nothing but large shin guards on below the waist?

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

It was probably the lack of socks. High boots aren't clothing, since they have an armor rating.
.
Though the importance of feet over upper legs is surely a bug.

Vanilla dwarves have Barbie Doll Anatomy, so I believe it's understandable. Their feet touch the rough, cold stone floors, their asses don't.
