I'm a bit late on this... But... OF COURSE THE UPPERBODY IS THE SEAT OF THE DWARVEN SOUL! That is where their gigantic liver makes its home! Just clearing up some confusion about confusion that shouldn't be there.
Livers... are in the lower body.

Of course. Any hyena could tell you that.

Damn, now I have to mod in wombat people.
Yes you do. You absolutely must.

Livers are not below the waist.

Isn't upper body your chest and lower body your guts?

The lower body is covered by clothing like trousers and thongs, so I would say, no, your lower body is your legs. Or at least your pelvis.

Sure, go ahead. I am curious how testing will go. Endless battles of immortals, with unlimited bodyparts lying around. :)

Cue the goblin seige taking up residence in your meeting hall, while you dwarves run around, getting slaughtered, then getting up and going about their merry way...on the other hand, capture a goblin, unlimited target practice for achers and soldiers :D

No--your spleen, stomach, pancreas and kidneys are all in your lower body.

You'd be surprised at just how high up your liver is :P

I've actually tried out a similar kind of regional interaction, and it turns out that loose hair and skin from butchered animals count as "corpses" and create clones? Oddly, this happens even with the FIT_FOR_RESURRECTION argument, which might mean, that this kind of thing were better restricted to sentient creatures and the like.

Wait, so a goblin arm is only fit for animation, but the skins of an animal that was splattered into limbs by a fall and then butchered are fit for resurrection too? Or the gobbo gibs are resurrecting too?

Isn't the liver just... kinda behind everything? Around where your stomach is? You know what? Fuck it.

Just... fuck it.

Butchered animals, which means that skin and hair is probally from the UPPERBODY, making them vaild targets fro resurrection?
