Recording my dwarf fortress game?

I want to make a "lets play" video of how I usually start out for a friend who's just starting the game to show him some things. How would I go about doing that? Software to use? Advice? Anybody else try this?

Hit the ";" key in game and all will be revealed.

You don't, CVS is uploaded to DF's own site where fortress snapshots and videos are stored.  For youtube, you'll need screen capture software, but those tend to be either shitty or expensive.
