The return of Goblin Golf?
« on: May 15, 2012, 02:31:06 pm »

So I I happened upon this combat log from a hunter.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
My understanding is that the reason Goblin Golf became infeasible was because it required a huge object and tremendous force. It's possible that the new physics have changed this. I have never seen a bolt knock anything over before this version and it wasn't exactly a bump, the weasel flew twenty squares away.

Are you sure it was a crossbow and not an action movie shotgun?

Did some arena testing, a blow from a silver mace won't knock a weasel back but a bolt will send it flying. I'm thinking the fact that crossbows are secretly railgun has something to do with it, the weight/force of a crossbow bolt must be higher than a blow from a heavy weapon.

Actually most of the people here explicitly wanted chaos and tragedy. So. Uh.

It could be doable. A mine cart rail gun in a corridor and a single channeled square on the other side. I must do this.

During a fight one of my miners got jumped by a raven zombie.  He teed up and golfed the feathery little bastard so hard with his pick that it took skid damage from getting skipped along the ground, before it died.

Tested it in the arena I'm assuming it translates.

Rakust finished her design - a skirt called "Clambreaks". I am not touching the woman, ever. And I'm not talking to her either.

The mechanics have changed, but I can't reproduce goblin golf with a hammerdwarf yet.

Wait, why are weasels so small? They are size 200! That's smaller than a kitten (size 500)! Smaller than a rat (size 300)! I think Toady forgot a zero in here, that's the bug.

Don' t fired bolts have too much speed and thus have too much "kinetic force"?

that's why: secret railgun

and yes, that sounds very small for a weasel

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

I did bronze colossus testing in the arena: mooks were sent flying from punches and kicks but strangely, not from iron warhammer blows. Maybe that's not so strange as the hammer must be tiny compared to the colossus fist/foot.

Mod in enormous colossus sized weapons, preferably the same size as a colossus fist and made of bronze?
