LOL, the bolts fired by it are normal, but the melee damage should be a bit more, in fact, artifact crossbows=epic fail

Shots fired are more accurate. Dear Roflord, seeing my Legendary marksdwarves fire side by side with some new recruits... They didn't even fire further than 5 tiles before the bolts snapped. In a flat plain.

Though seriously, Potash.

An artifact copper crossbow is pretty awesome because copper is a great crossbow material if your marksdwarves get in melee.

Artifact anything crossbows are awesome. Bows made of a decent bashing material are handy, but ideally you should have dedicated melee dwarves protecting your archers. Give this thing to a legendary marksdwarf and watch him murder everything.
