Question- How do you create just objects in the arena?

Also to add.. .I ran a few tests. I first dropped a sperm whale on an elf from 10z up and the elf was merely bruised, while the sperm whale was killed on impact.

Then I dropped a Colossus on an elf from the same height, and the elf was more or less pulverized.  I'd guess sheer density has more to do with things than weight.

I intend to test the damage of an armoured and unarmoured dwarf impacting an elf next...

Then as a control, lock an elf in a room full of badgers. You know. For scientific purposes.

"EAT FALL DAMAGE, ELF !!" *gibs*

Seems you can't create items without creatures in the arena.

The Damselfly Man 2's mutilated corpse strikes Elf 1 in the upper body, bruising the muscle and shattering the left true ribs!
The Elf 3's corpse strikes Elf 1 in the left lower arm, shattering the bone!
The Elf 4's mutilated corpse strikes Elf 1 in the lower body, bruising the muscle and bruising the guts!
The Elf 1 slams into an obstacle!
Elf 1's left upper arm takes the full force of the impact, jamming the bone through the left shoulder's muscle and shattering the left shoulder's bone!
Elf 1's upper body takes the full force of the impact, bruising the muscle and bruising the right lung!
Elf 1's right lower arm takes the full force of the impact, shattering the bone!

hmm corpse's work pretty good you could kill goblin with body's of old evaders.

So it sounds like we might be able to stun FBs into cage traps just by dropping hundreds of socks on them. I must try this.

Some testing suggests that we might have to find a softer object than socks:

Sure, it has always been possible to steal someone's clothing and beat them to death with it.  But you're telling me that there's a new, practical way to weaponize the fortress' dirty laundry?

Best.  Release.  Ever.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I got fed up with my fortress, so I decided to kill everyone (abandon is for elves) with a cave-in.

OK, cave-ins were always pretty deadly, but with the new falling object damage they are downright brutal.  As far as I can make out from the logs, many people were killed by the flying bodies of other victims.  One baby's corpse ricocheted off three other people, two walls and the floor.

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.

Create a test victim on the ground belonging to Side #1. Create an eagle belonging to Side #1 (so they are buddies) except that the eagle is holding a ton of items. It doesn't have hands, so it will drop most of the junk. IIRC it ends up wearing eagle-sized armor if you try that.

Ahhh! Woooh! What's happening? Who am I? Why am I here? What's my purpose in life? What do I mean by who am I? Okay okay, calm down calm down get a grip now. Ooh, this is an interesting sensation. What is it? Its a sort of tingling in my... well I suppose I better start finding names for things. Lets call it a... tail! Yeah! Tail! And hey, what's this roaring sound, whooshing past what I'm suddenly gonna call my head? Wind! Is that a good name? It'll do. Yeah, this is really exciting. I'm dizzy with anticipation! Or is it the wind? There's an awful lot of that now isn't it? And what's this thing coming toward me very fast? So smelly and pointy-eared, it needs a small ugly sounding name like 'Bleh', 'Barf', 'Blelf', 'Elf'! That's it! Elf! Ha! I wonder if it'll be friends with me? Hello, Elf!

Oddly the elves dodged the falling dwarves every single time. I dropped a 7x7 block of dwarves on an elf and the bugger still managed to be out of the way of them, despite the fact that he should have been hit, and without a "dodge" action.

Also that's when I went to bed because I was feeling slightly queasy at the sight of all the carnage.

Elves have insanely high natural agility. Those fuckers could dodge rain.

Has anyone checked to see if falling rain does damage now?

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

When you consider the old boiling rain bug, that might not be too crazy.

The flying water strikes the Dwarf in the head, tearing the skin and bruising the fat!
The flying water strikes the Dwarf in the head, tearing the fat and bruising the muscle!
The flying water strikes the Dwarf in the head, tearing the skull, pushing the skull through the brain, and tearing the brain!

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

So, we don't need to cause a cave-in whenever a wounded dorf won't get diagnosed? Sounds like I can simply designate a dump zone over the hospital and drop a boulder or two.

It doesn't. My current fort is plauged with sludge from the skies and the impact of the sludge does no damage.

The sludge itself makes them spew pus from every exposed area, but thats a whole other unrelated issue.
