Your tales of "Ex-Warrior" migrants.
« on: May 12, 2012, 07:29:59 pm »

so...

I just had a Soap Maker come in with Forty Nine Trolls killed.
No other kills... No crunddles or trogs, or bunnies or dingos... ALL TROLLS
49 of them.

The guy is a SOAP Maker.

SO what tales do YOU have of surprising migrant warriors?

A nervous, depressed, sickly and socially stunted 80+ year-old hunter. Master Marksdwarf, Ambusher, Archer and Dodger.

He sidestep-rapidfired a massive named zombie yak to death.

I once got a spear dwarf with 21 elf kills.

Not so weird. Except he likes elves. I can't wait to see what he does to goblins if he does that to things he likes.

The soap is made of bear hands. The bears were killed with bare hands.

That just made my day for some reason.

I had a lye maker with 55 elves and 15 grizzlies under his belt. Was a proficient macedwarf, skilled striker, dodger, shield and armor user, and competant biter.

And a carpenter who has 18 goblins, a troll, a some animal men. Comptent hammerdwarf, adaquate armor, dodge, shield and strike. Earlier today, he punched a giant badger in the nose once, after it woke him up and it ran.

Also in the fort with the above lye maker, I had a fish cleaner who was only an adaquate swordsdwarf, novice armor and shield, adaquate dodge and strike.

169 kills, most of them goblins or elves, with the odd human or dwarf mixed in.

Unsung heroes. Dwarves returning from the century long wars with the humans against the Elves show up at my fort, old and wizened, quickly get trained by the resident Marksdwarves present from the very start on basic anti-Raven survival.
These Dwarves in turn usually learn pretty quickly, and become the Captains of their own squads - training the greener migrants on how to fight.
Every now and then they pick up their weapons and are called upon to defend Silentthunders.

I had a guy with over 600 kills once.  Lots of gobbos and trolls, plus tons of animal men.  Unfortunately that fort was too short lived for him to amount to much after arrival.

My militia captain, Ushrir Keystatic arrived with 45 kills under his name, mostly animal people. The reason why he is interesting, needs some explanation.

He is a direct descendant of Zan Tradefolded, the second queen of the civilization. The attack of the Sabres, the battle where Zan died, made her daughter, Catten Inkomens obsessed with her own mortality. Catten ruled over the dwarves for thirty years after her mother's death, then she met an enigmatic human, Gil Zenithpolished who promised her to uncover the secrets she was after. In return, he asked the queen for a tower, made from polished obsidian so high that only the dwarfs could build it.
The deal has been made, and the royal architects have started working on the plans.

The attack of the Sabres, had three more survivals. One of them was Dastot Peltshot, the general who led the defense. When her first son Asob Knifeshark spoke out against the Queen and the dark path she led them to, Dastot profaned the Occult Sanctum in his drunken fury. Gomath, god of fate cursed Dastot, and she ran.

After these event Asob banished the Queen, and claimed the throne. In the next thirty years the dwarves only spoke about the queen in hushed voices, and only in the deepest of the mines. Her books, "After the mountain halls" and the "Future of the dwarves" made her an object of worship, and a cult formed. The plan was to build the tower, and return their queen to her throne. They stole as much supplies as they could, and the seven chosen embarked on their journey as the spring came.

A season later Ushrir Keystatic showed up with the plans of the tower, and the Giant ibex horn crown of his civilization.

I had an above ground garden built in the grounds of my castle and two young dwarves spent time socialising there over the summer and at the end of the summer they were in love. Remember those long summers of your childhood? That first kiss in the gardens while crossbows dwarves shoot goblins above your head? The rain of dead birds as the hunters get to work? Truly Spearhills is a paradise.
