Another video game referencing DF?
« on: May 12, 2012, 04:01:27 pm »

Maybe someone already mentioned this, but I just noticed this today, so I thought I'd show it.

A Valley Without Wind (indie game on Steam) is a procedurally generated game, fairly fun, a lot less so than DF, but still, it's procedural.

One steam achievement is:

Losing Is Fun!   Die 50 times.

That's cool.

Is there an image accompanying the achievements with A Valley Without Wind?

Also, congrats on not calling this game a rip-off of DF.

I want to see a boatmurdered reference in Diablo III.

Like, a dungeon in the darkest pits of hell.
Your wish has been granted.
From the Other Games sub-forum:
Hopefully I'll find THE BEST ITEM EVER CREATED: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/the-burning-axe-of-sankis
A Boatmurdered-related item in Diablo3! :D

By the way, someone should update the wiki page about the references. And I can remember another topic about DF easter eggs in other games, but I can't find it.

Blizzard dudes make a lot of DF easter eggs. Some WoW quest was related to dwarves, levers and drowning. Now this axe of Sankis. And a compartment aboard the battlecruiser Hyperion in Starcraft 2 campaign which you see a lot is called Bay 12: http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/8233/bay12.jpg . And the engineer looks a bit like a dwarf.

An obsidian axe wielded by the mad Sankis as "he" turned on his own men inside their fortress?

Wasn't Sankis a female?

What would that be, then? The Multiple Burning Axes of Sankis?
The gender thing is a bit off, but I suppose the in-game people who found the axe could have been non-dwarven enough to not know the difference.

Yep, they would see the beard and think it's "he".

OK, I have to reload the save.
There was a bit of a problem regarding flashfreezing, a ballistae, and a barrel of dwarven ale. Gonna fix it up.

You just reminded me that I always forget to edit that in before starting a new world each patch.
