Cannot change regions

Has anyone else noticed when you walk to the end of the map in adventure mode, you don't seem to be able to go past to the next region?

What you mean is that the world does not wrap around, and that Columbus was actually wrong and the world is flat? Of course that world isn't ours.   :p

On a sidenote, will there be a region change implemented in new game options ? The world map is huge, but you're given just some small corner with only a handful starting places for the fortress.

Just build a second set of farms and so forth there.  It isn't worth sending your hauling dwarves so far.

I think north and south are not connected, but east and west should be.

We were leaving open whether this is a world or part of a larger world...  right now you can't travel elsewhere, mainly due to technical hassles of embedding a creature and equipment into a world that could have different object files.  Things like this will probably start with notions like planar travel, actually, which is a long way off itself.

I don't think you guys are reading what I wrote right:

In adventure mode, the world is very big. But I can't move outside of the region I started in. Will I ever be able to do this?

I think that's what Toady was talking about above...  he was using the word 'world' to refer to a 'region'.  Basically, regions are currently laws unto themselves, and the differences between them make transfers a slightly tricky feature.
