sometimes this gun and its ammo can make a enemy fly backwards and crash into a wall and break into many many pieces, and i cant find anything about this besides impact stuff on the wiki.Does anyone know something about this?
[edit]i know its not a bug.I like it,but i want to understand it.

Yeah knocking away has been in the game for a long time and there has been a lot of !!SCIENCE!! done concerning it. In 40d you would get it all the time with warhammers and maces; legendary dwarves could knock for dozens of tiles and enemies would often die from colliding with the edge of the map. There were some problems with enemies getting stuck in "midair" (since the blue flying effect is not the same as actual flight), where they could not interact with the world in any way but would still scare dwarves. These days with the rationalization of material properties it is a lot less common since the forces involved are tremendous. You can reliably get the effect by wielding an extremely heavy object like a dragon corpse in adventurer mode and hitting people with it.

what if i was size googulplex to the googulplex power to the googulplex power and continue to the googulplex power a googulplex times? then i run and smash into a enemy ..... how far would the enemy go..... if he had a infinite amount if space and behind him there is no such thing as a ground
Lend me the computer upon which you hope to accomplish this incredible feat of game calculation (and had somehow managed to store the raw definitions that define such quantities), and I'll let you know.

If I had to guess I would say that most integers in-game are either unsigned shorts, limited to a maximum of 65,535, or longs, limited to 4,294,967,295. Any more than that and I think it will either loop around or default to the maximum value.

so
[SHOOT_FORCE:9000000000000000000000000000000000000000000]
[SHOOT_MAXVEL:9000000000000000000000000000000000000000000]
may not be very powerfull?

[edit] time to test it out .... (starts df with masterwork mod 1.8.1)

sounds like it's pretty powerful from your description, but probably not as powerful as it would be if a number that large were actually used. There are probably hard caps on other properties in the game that I don't know about and that are limited by a desire for realism rather than by integer size.

so
[SHOOT_FORCE:9000000000000000000000000000000000000000000]
[SHOOT_MAXVEL:9000000000000000000000000000000000000000000]

Well... I'd say that as that huge value (9x1042) is heavily reliant upon multiple multiples of ten, and ten factorises into 2x5, then a similar number of multiple multiples of this in binary would have 42 trailing zeros, i.e. be 242 before all the 542 is multiplied onto that as well.  42 trailing zeros in binary.  Equating to more than ten zeros in hexadecimal representation, if you prefer that.

But Longints are 32-bit signed (I think... it's been a while since I've had to make sure of such facts, and there may be inter-platform differences), so if it just top-truncated the value (assuming an otherwise perfect conversion) then it would come out as zero.  I suspect, then, that the overflow condition solidifies the number as 0FFF:FFFF, a value of over 268 million in our normal terminology.  Which is a big-enough number.  Or a value of zero does result, and also does something special...

But there are so many holes in that analysis (and rustiness that might have introduced errors into my thinking) that who knows...

Just test it. Seriously, you have the tools. Fire up the testing arena.

I was replying to people theorizing about the effects rather than doing as you were.
