I would approve to use it only if person isnt capable of burning fat by himself, for example a disease or something genetical that makes him unable to excercise. I would not approve if fat lazy asses that can just go and run or excercise and stop eating mc donalds every day wanted to burn their fat.

I don't see why you have a problem with that.

My main concern is how the increased fat in the bloodstream would affect the health of the patient. While I don't have the scientific background of some people here, it does seem to me that if a hormone is added to the blood that stimulates the release of fat, the body rest of the body wouldn't be prepared -- I assume that when actions like that are taken naturally, there are some changes in the blood vessels and tissue the nutrient is being directed to. I would think it would cause increased risk of strokes and other afflictions related to clogged blood vessels, so the machine would have to be operated in very small increments. Assuming that this is taking place in a medical setting, as mentioned before, I would expect it to be nearly as much of a time waster as going to the gym, without even the other health benefits of working out. It also would cost more for the patients, given how they'd have a doctor charging them for the time spent have fat removed.
Well you might not need the doctor or the medical setting if you were impanted with an artificial cardiac pacemaker and a cardioverter-defibrillator. Those would moniter heart rate and correct any inconsistencies, and restart the heart if it stopped.

Yes the excess fat would clog your blood stream. However HDL Cholesterol and other things like serum albumin could, if injected in similiarly massive quanities to the epinephrine and norepinephrine, transport fatty acids and LDL cholesterol to the liver, as well as help clean out your blood vessels in the case of HDL choleserol. When the Liver recieves the fatty acids and LDL cholesterol, it will send it to the gall bladder in the form of bile for use in Enterohepatic circulation (fat digestion and digestion of other things). You could have the machine hooked up to the veins carrying these to and from the gall bladder, and have that blood sucked into the machine where the fats are removed, while blood reserves are pumped back into the veins.  It goes to teh gall bladder first because that is where your body concentrates bile before sending it to the small intestine.

You would have to provide the body with the nutreints to manfufacture the bile, and continous nutreint injection to make up fro amount of nutrients lost inteh production of the bile. If there are hormones that stimulate bile production, those would also be needed.

This would all be famouslly expensive, but you could do it while watching TV or posting on a forum. As long as the machine is sophisticated enough that is, some other machines might require doctor supervision.

Also, is the release of fat through hormones actually a real danger? Doesn't the body do that normally during extended exercise anyways?
I would say that yes, it's quite a danger if not done in small increments. Our bodies do perform the same action during exercise, but it's truly stunning how little energy is needed to propel us at any given point in time, so a very small stream of energy from fat being released constantly would be taken out of the bloodstream in short order. If we were to replicate that, we would have to have very precise control over the amount of fat being released and keep it being removed from the bloodstream similar to how our muscle cells would be continuously using the fat.

Basically, it's safe if it's controlled properly. It's a huge risk if not run by professionals.

You could conceivably do some sort of dialysis and centrifuge thing to keep fat in the bloodstream down.
How would the centrifuge work, though? Wouldn't that require the blood to be taken out of the body?

I would approve to use it only if person isnt capable of burning fat by himself, for example a disease or something genetical that makes him unable to excercise. I would not approve if fat lazy asses that can just go and run or excercise and stop eating mc donalds every day wanted to burn their fat.
And this succinctly sums up my opinion of the machine.

I don't see why you have a problem with that.

"I only approve of microwaves and ovens for people who can't light a fire themselves! I would not approve of fat lazy asses that can do more than just press a button to get their heat."
It's irrational, I know. Fortunately, us humans have never been mistaken for rational beings. I guess I just don't like the idea that someone can disregard their body's health and still be thin. It feels like they're taking the shortcut that will come back to bite them in their fat ass later on in life.

I mean, seriously. What's with all the lazy people?

Look at all those cars. They should walk instead of taking the easy way to get places.
Calculators? Garbage. Everyone should do all math in their head.
Supermarkets? Pish posh. Everyone should have a garden and grow all their own food.

Shirking responsibility, even when doing so has zero consequences and in fact has several tangible benefits, is so very wrong!

Like I said, my viewpoint in this regard is irrational. I'm aware of that, and from a purely intellectual standpoint I think that a fat-reducing machine is a good idea, but in this case the id has a little more influence than the superego.

I've so far just been ignoring my opinion on who would use the machine for pretty much all of the thread in preference of actually contributing legitimate ideas about how such a machine would go about deleting fat, and it'd be nice if the one time I mention my opinion I didn't get a sarcastic rebuttal.

Eh, to me I think this opinion is because of the moralization of health that's been happening for... well, I don't know how long. It's not immoral to be fat, it's not some holy reward for your good deeds to be thin. I know you probably don't think of it exactly like that, but that's really how our culture treats it, I feel.

If you admit to being irrational, then... I'm not sure what kind of response you expect to get. Do you want us to tell you to quit being stupid? o.O

It's not like we can debate when one side acknowledges they're not making sense.

That's why I'm not debating about whether or not it's right or wrong; I came here to discuss the actual mechanics of the machine.

Neonivek, examples plox?

Wait he's right. We are missing the obvious: liposuction exists.

Because it encourages people to be even more lazy, fat burning machine would make people just buy fat burning machine or fat burning instead of getting less lazy, making their own meals instead going to mc donalds or eating pizza every day and think about their health instead of ruining it and thinking everything in life will go as easy as burning fat.

Your point seems to be that life should not be easy past a certain point. Why is this so? We have worked for hundreds of thousands of years to make life easy, why should we stop now?
